Could you be an Adult Buddy?

Presbyterian Support Otago’s Family Works Buddy Programme connects caring volunteers with children aged 5–12, helping support their emotional and social wellbeing.

We’re holding Adult Buddy training on 24 October in Dunedin, so now is a great time to get in touch if you’re thinking about volunteering. Just a couple of hours a week or fortnight can make a difference.

❄️⛸️ Our Dunedin and Balclutha Buddy Programme buddies recently came together for a mid-year outing on the ice!

The afternoon was a chance for the buddies to meet new people and try something new. A highlight was seeing one young buddy help another find the confidence to get out on the ice. By the end of the day, the young buddy was skating away from the wall and had made a new friend.

🎨 Ross Home’s entrance lounge recently became an art gallery, with residents proudly showcasing their artwork in a special exhibition.

Featuring everything from vibrant watercolours to pounamu-inspired paintings created for Matariki, the display was a wonderful celebration of creativity, talent and self-expression. Residents loved sharing their work with family, friends, visitors and staff.

A special thank you to our amazing Activity Coordinator and local artist, AJ, for inspiring residents and helping bring the exhibition to life. 💚

This Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, we're celebrating the many communities we're part of across Ōtākou / Otago.

Our team supports older people, children, whānau and individuals across the region. This week is a great opportunity to recognise and use the Māori names of the places we call home. 💙

Holmdene residents recently enjoyed a trip to the Catlins Hotel in Owaka for their popular Pensioner Lunch.

The outing included a delicious main course, pudding, and tea and coffee, followed by a lively game of bingo that brought plenty of laughs around the room. Age Concern also joined the lunch, giving residents the chance to catch up with friends, meet new people and enjoy an afternoon out together.

A big thank you to the Catlins Hotel for hosting such a wonderful lunch.

Outings and community events are an important part of life at our Enliven homes, and this lunch was a real highlight! 😊
