๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽถ So much local talent at Rockshop BandQuest!

Held on 29 and 30 August, the event saw local school bands take to the stage, including Blues and the Blurr from Concord School, After The Bell from Fairfield School and Mum Said No from Kaikorai Valley College.

๐Ÿ‘ Congratulations to Mum Said No on taking 3rd Place, and to After The Bell for picking up the Joint Star Vocalist Award and Outstanding Keyboardist Award!

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒธ A day of creativity, learning and friendship! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ

The Dunedin Gardening Club recently held a fantastic workshop day at the Green Island Bowling Club Hall, with four creative workshops to choose from.

It was a busy and creative day, with everyone heading home with something they had made themselves. Members also enjoyed morning and afternoon tea, plenty of chats and lots of laughs.

While it was cold and wet outside, there was plenty of warmth and happy faces inside! ๐Ÿ’š

A lovely reminder that gardening clubs are about much more than gardening. Theyโ€™re also about learning new skills, being creative and connecting with others.

๐ŸŒบ What an incredible celebration of culture and community!

The 33rd Otago Polyfest brought together around 9,000 young people from 40 schools and early learning centres, including our Greater Green Island schools.

Five days of music, performance, language and culture showcased the hard work of students, teachers, whฤnau and communities. โค๏ธ

With funding pressures affecting many school and community programmes, supporting events like Polyfest helps keep these valuable opportunities available for young people.

๐Ÿ›น๐Ÿ”ฅ Skateboarding is rolling into Fairfield!

The Dunedin Skate School is bringing an eight-week Skate-a-Thon to Fairfield Skate Park this October, welcoming skaters of all levels, from complete beginners to those working on new tricks.

๐Ÿ“… Starts Sunday 18 October, 2pm
๐Ÿ“ Fairfield Skate Park
๐Ÿ Final session and prizegiving: Sunday 22 November

For just $20, kids can take part, learn new skills, build confidence and have fun on their boards. The programme is also raising funds for a new Skate School trailer to help bring skate programmes to more young people around Dunedin.

๐Ÿ† There will be prizes across multiple categories, including Most Improved Skater, Most Consistent Skater and Highest Number of Donors, so everyone has a chance to shine!

Dunedin City Council is seeking feedback on its draft ลŒtepoti Pathways Strategy, a proposed 30-year plan aimed at making it safer and easier for people of all ages and abilities to walk, cycle and wheel around the city.

The strategy looks at how footpaths, cycleways and shared paths could connect communities and support everyday travel, recreation and tourism.

Residents are encouraged to share their views, including what works well, what is missing and what could make it easier to walk, cycle or wheel more often.

๐Ÿ”ฅ What an epic Brighton Backyard Ultra!

129 runners. Endless determination. Incredible community support. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ชโค๏ธ

Held on Saturday 19 September, the event brought runners together for an unforgettable day and night of endurance, camaraderie and challenge.

With warm conditions early on, challenging sand sections and a dramatic change in weather during the evening, the runners certainly had plenty to contend with!
But the support from runners, crews, volunteers and the wider Brighton community was just as impressive.
