π± Growing the next generation of environmental champions! π±
Twenty-five enthusiastic tamariki from Years 4β6 at St Peter Chanel School recently took part in a hands-on planting and education day with Loveday from the Εtokia Creek Trust.
The students learned about native trees, seed growth, and the importance of restoring local waterways before getting stuck into practical activities including sowing seeds, identifying native plants, and re-potting seedlings destined for the Εtokia Creek reforestation project.
One of the biggest highlights came when the children discovered the project has already planted 22,000 trees β and that the seeds they planted could help add another 200 in the future. π³
With plenty of curiosity, enthusiasm, and muddy hands, the tamariki embraced the opportunity to contribute to an important local conservation project and learn more about caring for the environment.
