Final day of the 2026 SLSNZ National Champs, and what a day it was!!

After a big week on the beach. the team repped the St Clair colours one last time for the season in some tough team events ⚫️⚪️. Backing up races, and mixing it with the best of the best, they really displayed how hearty we make them in the deep south 💪.

Our team were back where they belong, with multiple of our athletes repping it hard in some tough finals! Our girls rounded out an amazing week by once again reaching the top steps, taking 🥉 in the U19 board relay 🙌

Thank you to all supporters, team managers, and event officials who make these events possible, what a week!!!

Kia ora whānau and friends,

Out of respect for the recent passing at St Clair this afternoon, a rāhui has been placed over St Clair and St Kilda beach and the wider area until further notice.

A rāhui is a temporary restriction grounded in tikanga Māori. It is placed to acknowledge a loss, protect the mana of those affected, and allow space for healing. It also serves as a sign of respect. This applies to the gathering of Kaimoana (seafood) aswell as recreational activities.

We all ask our community to put aside certain activities in the area during this time.

While the rāhui is in place, we ask that the public refrain from entering the water and using the affected section of beach. This is not only out of respect, but also to allow whānau, responders, and our wider community time to grieve.

We extend our aroha to the whānau and all those impacted.

Ngā mihi nui,
St Clair Surf Life-saving Club
