Otago Neighbourhood Support

Otago Neighbourhood Support The mission of the organisation may be achieved by developing more cohesive communities by increasing the feeling of safety and wellbeing at street level.

Neighbourhood Support works closely with the Police and many other organisations in your community to reduce crime, improve safety and prepare to deal with emergencies and natural disasters. In addition to helping to reduce crime and the fear of crime, the Civil Defence ‘Are you prepared?’ strategy has become essential to the role of Otago Neighbourhood Support.

Here goes - my first ever Facebook entry - assisted by granddaughter Sophia. As most of you know, I am now working part-time for Otago Neighbourhood Support as their Regional Coordinator, a job I absolutely love. I've been in this role, for 6 months now, previously I was Chair. As a Trust, we have made some exciting changes which has impacted on my role in a hugely positive way. We will soon have a new website (yay!) as well as a new, faster and more efficient database - great news for our organisation and for our Street Contacts and members.
The structure of Neighbourhood Support NZ has also changed - new Chair, Deputy Chair, Manager and Administrator - all excellent people already making a big difference to the organisation. In October we will be re-launching the 'new look' Neighbourhood Support with other changes yet to come.
Otago Neighbourhood Support is still based at Dunedin North Police Station and our phone number is 03.456.0857. Watch this space for regular updates and pics!
Cheers,
Lois Scott

Nearly half of all Kiwis don't get on with their neighbours - do you? We can help you to get to know your neighbourhood better! Call us on 03 4560857 or email [email protected].

Almost half of us have little to no contact with our neighbours - and that's the way we like it.

Are you ready for an emergency?

Following the news of the and national tsunami warning issued by the Ministry of Civil Defence, it's important to assess whether you and your family are prepared for an emergency. You can find info for preparing for emergencies at www.getthru.govt.nz. We've also just launched the Hazard app - so you can receive real-time alerts for hazards like earthquakes, and what to do to prepare, and respond.

Download the hazard app today:
