One by One Rescue, NZ We privately set up One By One Rescue - to rescue and re-home puppies and dogs (not from the pound) within the greater Dunedin area.

One By One Rescue NZ are based out of Dunedin and is an organisation set up specifically for rescuing Dogs in need, where other charities are unable to take them. Adoption Fee $300.00 - which covers part costs for desexing / registration etc. Re-homing Fee starts from $50 (depending on vaccinations, registration etc.) Property inspections are required for adoptions & rehomed dogs, if renting Land Lord permission is required to be sighted / copy provided for records. We are always needing help, if you can volunteer your time, have goods or money to donate, or think you may be of assistance in other ways then please contact us now! EDIT: Chance is now home. He was found looking very peaceful under some bushes behind his house. Unfortunately not the news his mum was hoping for, but she is grateful that he was found and is home.
Thank you to everyone who looked out for him, and those who helped search for him.

One of our volunteers has had her cat go missing from Bernard St, Mornington.

Chance was last seen on Thursday 10 September. He is timid so is unlikely to come to a stranger.

Sadly, Adonaia has experienced abuse in her past, but she has come such a long way and is now ready to find someone who will show her the love she truly deserves.

Regi is a high-energy working-dog mix who needs plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, company and attention. If he doesn't get enough interaction, he can become vocal and will definitely let you know!

🌿 An experienced working-dog home, farm or lifestyle block would be ideal, where he has space, activity and potentially a job or purpose.

This isn't an easy decision — Regi is a beautiful, loving boy. We simply want to find him a home that can give him the lifestyle and stimulation he needs.

🐾 FREJA IS LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME 🐾

We have made the impossibly hard decision to rehome our sweet Freja, and we are absolutely heartbroken. ❤️

Freja is a 4-year-old German Shepherd x Labrador who is intelligent, affectionate, energetic and absolutely full of personality.

Over the past couple of years, there have been a lot of changes in Freja’s life — the addition of a second dog, the arrival of a baby and a move to a new house. We initially hoped Freja and our second dog would become great friends, but unfortunately there has been quite a bit of rivalry between them, and we have noticed changes in Freja’s behaviour.

The arrival of our baby has unsettled her further. Our second dog and our son have formed a very strong bond and are best friends, and we would hate to separate them. After a lot of thought, we feel Freja would be happiest as an only dog, where she can have all the attention and companionship she deserves.

We think she would be particularly suited to a single person or couple, although she could also do well with a family with older children who can become her mates and take her along on walks and adventures.

- Up to date with worming and flea treatments
- Crate trained — her crate is her safe space
- Well trained with good recall
- Leash walking could use some more work

- Intelligent, affectionate and full of energy
- Can be reserved with new people and takes a little time to warm up

Freja has usually been taken to places where she can run off lead, so although her recall is good, her leash skills would benefit from some extra work.

We have put a huge amount of time, love and effort into trying to make our current situation work, but unfortunately we have been unable to find a sustainable solution. This is not a decision we have taken lightly.

Freja really is a wonderful, sweet and energetic girl, and we will miss her terribly. Ultimately, though, we believe finding her the right home is the best thing we can do for her. 🥺❤️

🏡 WE WANT THE RIGHT HOME — NOT JUST ANY HOME

We would like to arrange a mutual agreement where Freja's adoption begins as a trial period. Her future happiness is our priority, and if for any reason the placement isn't the right fit, we want Freja to come back to us.

🐾FABULOUS NEWS BOLT HAS A NEW HOME 🐾 ❤️

Meet Bolt, a 4-year-old Collie x Heading Dog who is looking for a new home where he can be loved, exercised and given the space he needs to thrive.

Bolt is very well bred and has a strong natural ability to head. He absolutely loves playing ball and is obsessed with it — he’ll jump up, bounce the ball back to you and happily keep the game going! 🎾

He is a very affectionate boy who loves coming inside for cuddles and pats. He knows sit and has a good recall. Bolt is currently an outside kennel dog, but he really enjoys spending time with his people.

⚠️ Important: Bolt has developed a very strong prey drive towards chickens. Unfortunately, he has recently chased and attacked chickens and two turkeys were seriously injured and had to be put down. Because of this, Bolt cannot be placed in a home with poultry or other animals he may see as prey. He will need a secure, responsible home that understands and can safely manage this behaviour.

Bolt can also be a little snarky with other dogs at times, although it isn't considered serious and he generally responds when told off.

Bolt is entire (not desexed).

💙 His family absolutely loves him and this is a heartbreaking decision. They don't feel it is fair to keep him chained or restricted because of his behaviour around the poultry, so they are hoping to find him a suitable forever home.

🏡 We would especially love to find Bolt a family home with kids, provided the family can meet his exercise and management needs.

Bolt needs someone who will give him plenty of exercise, stimulation, affection and — most importantly — a safe, fully secure environment away from poultry and other prey animals.

❤️ Bolt is not looking for just any home — we're looking for the right home for him.

He is an energetic, friendly and absolutely lovable boy ❤️ He can get very excited and is a big dog, but he is generally very well behaved.

🏡 What he needs:

- A fully fenced, secure property
- A home where he can have plenty of company
- An active family who can give him the exercise and attention he needs
- He could be particularly suited to an older family or a gentleman
- He is desexed/fixed

This boy is very loved, and he will not simply be going to the first available home. His family want to make sure he finds the perfect home where he will be loved and cared for for the rest of his life. ❤️
