FREE CELERY AVAILABLE!

Fresh celery will be available from 11:30 AM in the food pantry.

Please take what you need and be considerate of others, so everyone has a chance to enjoy some. Take enough for yourself, but please don’t take more than you need. 💚

Kia ora Phillipstown whānau,

We have just harvested the last of our over wintered beetroot. Mostly medium/small size and a mix of 3 colours.

Come down to the food pantry onsite and grab a couple of handfuls & please bring your own bag.

We should have some lettuce soon too!!

Hagley Park who? Come down to Phillipstown Community Hub and make the most of our beautiful blossoms while they last.

Kia ora Phillipstown whānau,

Just wanted to do a big gratitude shout out to Jaimie, Chris and the team at Garden Box for another delivery of organic compost and this time with a little something extra...a brick of coconut coir!!!

The majority of this compost is headed for some 30L & 40L tubs to grow capsicum plants in one of our smaller tunnel houses. The organic compost provides a good balance of nutrients to support the initial growth and flowering stages, whilst the coconut coir will be hydrated and mixed in to help with moisture retention. Well hydrated soil not only supports hydrated plants but also helps retain warmth around the root systems.

The coconut coir is a very good addition to soil in raised garden beds too, especially with a very warm and dry Summer season predicted.

Now is a great time to get all your prep work for Spring planting done. Mulching will also be very important around fruit trees and garden beds this season.

If you have gardening questions, feel free to pop in on Monday or Friday mornings and speak to Michael. And definitely get into GardenBox for all your composting needs.

Bagged Lettuce Available at the Community Pantry!

With the weather warming up, salad season is nearly here!

Our amazing volunteers have been busy preparing bags of fresh lettuce for our community. Come along to the community pantry and grab yours while supplies last.

Zumba and knitting for the community have now finished up here at the Hub. A very special thank you to Graham for bringing Zumba to the Hub. And a big thank you to Barbara for sharing her knitting skills, patience, and time with our community.

🥬 Come and get your lettuces! 🥬

The Phillipstown Hub Community Garden has fresh lettuces ready for picking!

A huge thank you to our amazing gardeners and volunteers for all their hard work in growing such a wonderful harvest.

To find the lettuces, simply look for the orange sign and keep walking, the attached photos will guide you.

Please only pick produce that is ready. Signs are displayed to help you identify what can be harvested.

We also ask that you take only what you need for tonight's meal, so there's plenty for others in our community to enjoy.

Happy harvesting, and thank you for helping us care for our shared garden!

School Holiday & Hub Update

Please note that the following classes at Phillipstown Hub will not be running during the school holidays:

Wednesday Art Class – 10:00am
Thursday Zumba – 10:00am
Friday Art Class – 12:00pm

We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the school holidays. Have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break!

Reminder: Driveway works are currently underway at the Hub. Please take extra care when visiting and follow any signage or directions in place. Thank you for your patience while these improvements are completed.
