See you this Sunday!! ⭐️ 🛻 🍕 🐴
What’s on for kids in Christchurch this weekend?
If your messages are already filling up with “what’s the plan?” and you’re one indecisive moment away from staying home and calling it a rest day, here’s your nudge. This weekend has plenty going on, without needing a long drive or a spreadsheet to make it work. Some free, some ticketed, some short-and-sweet, some worth blocking out a few hours for.
Here’s your family-friendly snapshot:
🛹 Ride ’n’ Slide – Skate lessons with gear provided, plus a slip ’n’ slide alongside at West Melton Skatepark. Easy summer fun, pick wheels or water.
📚 Lunar New Year at Christchurch City Libraries – Storytimes and activities celebrating the Year of the Horse, spread across libraries around the city and running all week.
🎭 Cubbin Theatre Company Bundle Baby – A calm, short theatre experience designed for babies and toddlers at The Arts Centre. Slow-paced, sensory and genuinely little-person friendly.
🏮 Happy Chinese New Year Festival – Lanterns, performances, food stalls and fireworks filling Victoria Square over Friday and Saturday.
👶 Tiny Town x Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense Christchurch NZ – A structured play session with extras like photos, parent support and limited numbers to keep things relaxed.
🤸 Play for Free at Flips & Tumbles – Trampolines, tumbling and parkour with a free open session. Bookings needed, energy guaranteed.
🐻 Plunket Teddy Bears Picnic – A relaxed park fundraiser in Rangiora with stalls, bouncy castles and face painting. Gold coin entry, bring cash.
🎶 Kids’ Day Out at Food Truck Alley – Pony rides, face painting, live music and a big playground, timed nicely for a Sunday afternoon wander.
🛍 Little Boss Night Market – The CHC Night Market with added kids’ mini booths, giving young sellers their own small businesses for the night.
We’ve pulled together all the dates, times and locations over on nook NZ.
