Kia ora e te whānau!

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori — Māori Language Week — starts today and runs through to 20 September, with this year's theme Ake, Ake, Ake: A Forever Language.

Swipe through for a few words to take with you next time you're at the hub ☺️

Wīra (wheels), mekameka (chain), pōtae mārō (helmet), hānara (handlebar) — and the word for the whole thing: paihikara, bicycle.

Try at least one of them out loud this week.

Eke tātou, let's ride!

Check out this awesome old-school, refurbished Redline Petty Cash BMX, now at Bike Hub Manukau! We're selling it for $220.

We haven't listed it on Trade Me yet, so it's still up for grabs for now. Don't miss out on this very cool rebuild — pop by the hub to take a look and ask our friendly team any questions.

Spring has sprung! Which around here means one thing: bike season is back.

Bike Hub Manukau is one of nine across Tāmaki Makaurau (we are open Thursday–Saturday 10am - 2pm) with free tools, friendly advice, and a hand fixing up whatever's been sitting in the shed all winter.

Since we started, more than 100,000 people have come through our hubs. And we'd love to see more of you soon! 👋🏻

Say hello to Ryan!

Ryan is one of our regulars here at Bike Hub Manukau. He generously donated 3 bikes, which have all found new homes, and continues to support what we do — from purchasing parts to helping our visitors with his skilled advice. Ryan is a talented mechanic who has shared what the bike hubs do with his friends, many of whom have since shown up too. We always enjoy having Ryan around — he's a friendly face and well and truly part of the furniture here at our bike hub.

Here's Ryan with his own one-of-a-kind build: a Gary Fisher.

Got a bike gathering dust in the garage? Give it a second life! 🚲

Our mechanics repair and refurbish donated bikes, then put them back into the community at an affordable price — so someone who needs a bike can get one.

Used bikes are in high demand right now, with more people looking for smart, low-cost ways to get around and save on fuel. Your donation could make a real difference for someone in our community.

Drop your bike off during our opening hours: Thursday–Sunday, 10am–2pm.

Know someone with a bike sitting unused? Share this post with your friends and whānau — you might just help them clear some space and make someone's day 🙌
