What a wonderful celebration of Tongan Language Week here at Te Puke o Tara Community Centre.

We are incredibly grateful to our Ōtara-Papatoetoe community for coming together and making this event such a special occasion. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create a warm and vibrant atmosphere as we celebrated Tongan language, culture, and identity.

A heartfelt thank you to all our guests, especially our Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board members for their continued support. A special acknowledgement to our Local Board Chair, who shared a song with us during the celebration, adding to the joy and spirit of the day.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to John Pulu for gifting us with a beautiful song that made the event even more memorable.

Special thanks to our incredible staff from Te Puke o Tara Community Centre and Tupu Youth Library, whose hard work, dedication, and teamwork helped make this celebration a great success.

Together, we celebrated our language, culture, and community with pride.

Join us at Papatoetoe Museum this Saturday for a drop-in Tivaevae demonstration and teaching session.

Come along anytime between 1pm and 4pm to learn the basics of Tivaevae with the Mamas. Kids’ activities will also be available.
