Wednesday morning at the Bergen Airport on our way home. From Chat GPT: The question mark on the iconic sign outside Bergen Airport in Norway is a deliberate art piece created by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson.Titled "This Must Be the Place," the sign is meant to capture the existential, slightly melancholic feeling of being a modern traveler constantly in transit. Final dinner on the waterfront topped off with the famous brown cheese ice cream. Toasting to a great trip and thanking our wonderful tour guide Zdenka. Can’t wait to see her again in September.

Time to dry off and tour the Bryggens Museum, a cultural history museum built on the site of medieval archaeological excavations, showcasing artifacts from the city's past, including the foundations of old buildings and runic inscriptions. Established after a 1955 fire, it offers insights into medieval life, trade, and craftsmanship through its permanent exhibits and changing displays. Dane was a tour guide here so he gave us a very in-depth tour of the highlights.

Tuesday morning, our last full day: Breakfast and then a bus & walking tour of the city with a local guide. Pics of some of the unique architecture and cobblestone streets.

Monday evening before dinner we had a a very informative lecture on the Jews of Bergen by a college history professor who wrote a book on the topic. He also brought along a member of the current very small Jewish community there to speak and answer questions. The discussion was very eye opening.

Just enough time for a cup of coffee and a snack at the top and then a ride down again. We were fortunate to have an Opera singer in our car as part of “Opera Up” — pop up opera singers performing in the funicular in random cars from 5/28-6/10.
