Apart from being part of the organising committee, project partners are giving oral and poster presentations about the advancements made in their research activity, as well as taking part in other participatory sessions 👥

🤝 One special event was the joint workshop organised together by the PAPAS - Potatoes and Pests, Actionable Science Against Nematodes, and projects, in which from the different areas in the growing industry discussed current and future challenges of nematode management. Researchers, industry representatives, growers advisors and other stakehloders mixed in tables to share their views and figure out ways to improve management strategies 🎯

On the occasion of , six EU-funded projects — POMATO, IPMorama, CROPSAFE, SAGROPIA, PataFEST, and — came together for the webinar “From research to field: Sustainable solutions for potato health”.

🤝 The projects, which have established a networking consortium to strengthen collaboration, share knowledge, and explore synergies, presented their complementary approaches to addressing potato pests and diseases.

Despite focusing on different threats, the projects identified common areas for collaboration, including diagnostics, pathogen population characterisation, and prevention strategies — all while addressing shared challenges such as .

The discussion also highlighted the importance of translating research into practical solutions that support farmers, advisors, and stakeholders in adopting more sustainable crop protection practices.

🪱 Scientists working on the project have developed a more reliable way to identify Meloidogyne luci, a harmful tropical root-knot nematode affecting crops such as in 🌍 The group of researchers have recently published an article in where they described the method developed for the identification 🔍

🧬 By combining advanced DNA sequencing with detailed microscope analysis, researchers created a stronger diagnostic tool to distinguish this pest from similar species.

This breakthrough could help track how the nematode spreads across and adapts to different climates — an important step for protecting food crops and supporting farmers 🌱🔬
