Future For Nature Academy is a platform where young motivated nature conservationists in the Netherlands can build a network.

Future For Nature Academy (FFNA) is an initiative started for young motivated nature conservationists in the Netherlands to create a platform where they can find each other and build a network. FFNA is about passion, inspiration and conservation. Concerning the theme Future For Nature (FFN) several national activities will be organized. Benieuwd naar het werk bij Go-Ape en hoe een carrière in de natuur- en conservatie sector eruit kan zien? Kom dan op donderdag 15 oktober naar de lezing van Rowena Facee Schaeffer.

Rowena vertelt over haar werk bij Go-Ape, haar ervaringen binnen de natuurbescherming en haar eigen carrièrepad. Een leuke kans om meer te leren over werken in de natuur- en conservatie sector en inspiratie op te doen voor je eigen toekomst.

It is that mushroom time of the year! In collaboration with Wageningen Student Farm, we have a mushroom day again where we chill and learn more about mushrooms. There will be a forest walk and fungal workshops on the farm. It is in 2 weeks with limited space, so do sign up the soonest you can! We are excited to see you there

o 🐘 October 27 - Elephant Health Detectives - Utrecht University

Have you ever wondered how researchers assess the health of wild elephants? Join this hands-on citizen science activity for NGO Bring The Elephant Home and discover how you can help scientists monitor the body condition of wild Asian elephants!

You’ll also have the opportunity to try two additional methods in your own time, after the session, from home. By comparing your assessments, you’ll directly contribute to scientific research investigating which method produces the most consistent results.

Your contribution really matters! The results will help Bring The Elephant Home develop a reliable method for long-term monitoring of wild Asian elephants, one that can be used in practice by people with different backgrounds and levels of experience.

During the dinosaurs’ final days, the ancestors of marsupials were huge in South America, which at that time was still attached to Antarctica and Australia in the supercontinent Gondwana. After Gondwana broke into pieces, the marsupials got redistributed 🦘

o 🐦 September 29 - Lark Poaching Lecture - Wageningen

Vasudha Mishra of the Human & Environmental Alliance League (HEAL) in Kolkata, India, recently took part in an initiative that curbed seasonal poaching of migratory Larks across several districts in West Bengal. Come join us on the 29th of September in Wageningen as she discusses the scale of the challenge, and how she and her team were able to engage both the local communities and officials to work together and save these songbirds. There will also be time after the presentation for questions from attendees!

Petronel Nieuwoudt brings years of hands-on experience in wildlife conservation, veterinary care, research, and nature conservation. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the work of rhino rescue and conservation, and to speak with Petronel.
