REPORT ON CIPM RIVERS STATE BRANCH EXCO VISIT TO NYSC CAMP, NONWA GBAM, RIVERS STATE
Date of Visit: Friday, 8th August 2025.
Venue: NYSC Orientation Camp, Nonwa Gbam, Rivers State
1. Introduction
On Friday, 8th August 2025, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Rivers State Branch Executive Committee (Exco) paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp, Nonwa Gbam, Rivers State.
The visit was aimed at engaging corps members on the importance of professional human resource practice, creating awareness about the Institute, and exploring avenues for future collaboration with the NYSC in the State.
2. Delegation
The visit was led by the Branch Chairperson, Mrs. Catherine Kadiri, accompanied by the Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Orie Uduma, and the Branch Administrator, Mr. Albert Ogodi.
3. Reception and Interaction with Corps Members
The delegation was warmly received by the camp officials and allocated a dedicated time slot to address the corps members.
The Chairperson, Mrs. Catherine Kadiri, delivered an engaging presentation in which she:
Introduced the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), highlighting its history and role as the only chartered body mandated to regulate and standardize human resource practice in Nigeria.
Informed the corps members that it is now a legal requirement for all HR professionals in Nigeria to be registered members of CIPM.
Explained the different categories of membership available.
Extended an invitation to the upcoming CIPM Rivers State Branch Conference, offering corps members a significant discount on participation fees.
To facilitate follow-up, forms were distributed to interested corps members. Close to 200 corps members submitted their details for further engagement.
4. Meeting with the NYSC State Coordinator
Following the session with corps members, the Exco held a meeting with the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between NYSC and CIPM in Rivers State.
Mr. Moses reaffirmed his continuous support and commitment to the Institute’s initiatives.
He accepted the invitation to the Branch Annual Conference in September and expressed his interest in joining CIPM as a member.
5. Outcome
The visit was highly successful, achieving the following:
Increased awareness of CIPM among corps members.
Collection of prospective member details for follow-up (approx. 200 entries).
Strengthened institutional relationship with the NYSC leadership in the State.
Commitment from the State Coordinator to partner on future initiatives.
6. Next Steps
Follow up with the corps members who expressed interest in joining CIPM.
Maintain communication with the State Coordinator to foster the agreed collaborations.
Ensure participation of corps members and NYSC leadership at the upcoming Branch Conference.
