CLARIFICATION ON THE MEETING AT THE NIGER STATE APC SECRETARIAT, MINNA
Following various interpretations and reports concerning the meeting held at the Niger State APC Secretariat in Minna, we consider it necessary to provide a clear and factual clarification to our teeming supporters, members of Team AMANA, and the general public.
The meeting was convened by the Niger South (Zone A) APC State Working Committee and involved both Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman Esq. and Hon. Adamu Kpautagi. The essence of the engagement was to reaffirm the commitment of both political actors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party and to encourage all concerned to continue working for the progress, unity and electoral success of the party.
For the avoidance of doubt, no candidate was endorsed over the other at the meeting, neither did any of the two candidates step down or withdraw from the contest. The engagement was fundamentally about the party and the need for all stakeholders to remain committed to APC and its interests.
The State Working Committee also made the position of the party very clear: as far as the party is concerned, there are presently two contenders for the House of Representatives seat of the Lavun, Edati and Mokwa Federal Constituency, pending the determination of the ongoing legal process.
We therefore urge members of the public to disregard any narrative suggesting that the meeting resulted in the endorsement of one candidate over another, or that Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman withdrew from the legal process.
For emphasis, Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman has not withdrawn his case. The matter remains before the Federal High Court, Minna, and the legal process is ongoing. As soon as the court resumes from its current vacation, proceedings and hearing on the matter are expected to continue.
We have absolute confidence in the judicial process and believe that justice will ultimately prevail. Until the competent court makes its pronouncement, all parties and supporters are encouraged to exercise restraint, avoid misinformation and allow the legal process to run its course.
At this critical moment, we particularly appeal to the entire Team AMANA family and supporters of Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman to remain calm, focused and united. There is no cause for unnecessary apprehension or confrontation. Our principal remains committed to the democratic process, the APC and the aspirations of the good people of Lavun, Edati and Mokwa Federal Constituency.
Let us continue to conduct ourselves with maturity, discipline and respect for constituted authorities. The court remains the appropriate avenue for determining the legal issues before it, and we shall continue to respect its eventual decision.
Our commitment remains unwavering. We shall continue to pursue our aspirations through lawful, peaceful and democratic means, while remaining steadfast in our belief in experience, competence and purposeful representation.
Team AMANA remains calm. Team AMANA remains focused. Team AMANA remains committed.
