Meet Yagana Alhaji Isa, a participant in our Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices (Micro-Gardening) programme under the Strengthening Community Economic Resilience (SCER) project in the Veterinary Axis community, Dalori, Jere LGA, Borno State.

With the knowledge and support provided through the project, Yagana transformed a small space in her compound into a thriving garden that now supplies fresh vegetables for her family. Beyond improving household nutrition, the garden has reduced food expenses and created an opportunity for her to earn additional income by selling surplus produce.

"Before this support, I never imagined I could grow enough food in such a small space. Now I can harvest fresh vegetables close to my home, feed my family, reduce what I spend at the market, and even sell some of what I grow. This garden has given me hope and confidence." — Yagana Alhaji Isa

Working alongside the Borno State Government, Chabash Development and Health Initiative CDHI has donated emergency medical supplies to strengthen the state’s cholera response and support health facilities treating patients with severe dehydration.

The donation was formally received by the Borno State Drugs Management Agency (BODMA).

This collaboration is helping strengthen emergency healthcare services, equip frontline health workers with essential resources, and improve access to lifesaving treatment for affected communities.

At CDHI, we recognize that effective emergency response depends on strong partnerships and resilient health systems. By working together, we are contributing to a coordinated response that protects lives and supports communities when they need it most.

With support from the United Nations OCHA Nigeria through the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund ( ), Chabash Development and Health Initiative CDHI, alongside partner organizations, conducted a follow-up joint monitoring and learning visit under the project, "Strengthening Community Economic Resilience (SCER) through Inclusive, Innovative, and Climate-Smart Nutrition-Sensitive Food System Interventions in Jere LGA, Borno State."

Building on the previous monitoring exercise, the visit was carried out in collaboration with Malteser International and partner organizations, including the Nigerian Red Cross Society, FOURCi Nigeria and Free NG. It provided another opportunity to review project progress, engage with community members, verify ongoing interventions, and capture lessons that will further strengthen programme implementation and improve community outcomes.

At CDHI, we remain committed to working collaboratively with partners to deliver inclusive, accountable, and sustainable interventions that strengthen resilience and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities.

With support from the United Nations OCHA Nigeria through ( ), Chabash Development and Health Initiative (CDHI) officially flagged off the distribution of Hydroponic Fodder Kits to beneficiaries in Elmiskin Extension II and the Veterinary Axis, Jere Local Government Area, Borno State.

Following the capacity-building training on hydroponic fodder production, beneficiaries received essential materials, including hydroponic growing racks, planting trays, watering cans, seeds, and other inputs required to establish climate-smart hydroponic fodder systems. These kits will enable them to produce nutritious livestock feed using minimal land, water, and other resources.

The distribution marks an important step in translating knowledge into practice, equipping households with the tools to sustainably produce quality fodder for their livestock. By promoting climate-smart agricultural practices, the initiative contributes to improved livestock productivity, strengthened livelihoods, enhanced food security, and greater community resilience.

Meet Umar Muhammad, one of the participants in our Cash-for-Work programme under the Strengthening Community Economic Resilience (SCER) project in Ajilari community, Jere LGA, Borno State.

With a smile that reflects both relief and hope, Umar expressed his gratitude after receiving his cash assistance. He shared that the support will go a long way in helping him meet his family's immediate needs, provide food for his household, and ease some of the financial challenges they face.

Beyond the financial support, Umar is proud to have contributed to improving his community through environmental sanitation activities. For him, the initiative not only provided an income but also restored a sense of dignity and purpose.

CDHI successfully concluded Cash-for-Work participants' cash disbursement under the Strengthening Community Economic Resilience (SCER) project in Ajilari and Goni Kachallari communities, Jere LGA, Borno State.

With support from the Nigerian Humanitarian Fund ( ) through United Nations OCHA Nigeria, this initiative provided eligible participants with cash assistance following their contribution to community environmental sanitation activities, helping strengthen household resilience while promoting cleaner and healthier communities.

Through our Strengthening Community Economic Resilience (SCER) Project, with support from United Nations OCHA Nigeria through the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund ( ), and in collaboration with the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA), Cash-for-Work activities are currently ongoing in Ajilari and Goni Kachallari communities of Jere LGA, Borno State.

The initiative engages community members in environmental sanitation efforts that contribute to cleaner, healthier, and safer living environments. By combining livelihood support with community-driven action, the project promotes sustainable recovery and resilience while supporting vulnerable households through income-generating opportunities and strengthening community awareness, preparedness, and resilience through Early Warning Systems.

Through their active participation, beneficiaries are not only improving their communities but also earning income to support their households and enhance their well-being.

Monitoring progress, nurturing resilience. 🌱

Our team recently visited micro-gardening project participants in Almiskin and the Veterinary Axis communities of Jere LGA to monitor progress and provide technical support.

Implemented by CDHI with support from United Nations OCHA Nigeria through the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund ( ), the initiative is helping vulnerable households adopt climate-smart agricultural practices that improve food production in limited spaces.

It was encouraging to see beneficiaries actively maintaining their gardens and applying the knowledge and skills gained through the project. These small gardens are helping households improve access to nutritious food while strengthening their resilience and self-reliance.

With support from the United Nations OCHA Nigeria through Chabash Development and Health Initiative (CDHI) conducted a Capacity Building Training on Hydroponic Fodder Production for communities in Almiskin and the Veterinary Axis of Dalori, Jere LGA, Borno State.

Facilitated by the Borno State Ministry of Agriculture and the Borno State Ministry of Livestock Development, the training introduced participants to innovative hydroponic techniques for producing livestock feed using minimal land, water, and resources.

The training equipped community members with practical skills to produce sustainable fodder in preparation for upcoming livestock support, ensuring a reliable feed system once animals are distributed. It also highlighted how controlled fodder production can help reduce animals straying in search of pasture and prevent damage to farms and property.

The session created space for learning, exchange, and practical problem-solving around sustainable livestock feed production.
