"Before this project began, many of our children were not going to school because parents simply couldn’t afford the fees, uniforms, or books," says Abubakar, a community leader in Gadammayo.

Today, that story is changing. Through the Education in Emergencies project funded by the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid , we are proud to share that the International Rescue Committee and CHAD International have successfully enrolled:

1,350 children into formal schools.

3,120 children into non-formal education centres.

These students have been equipped with the bags, books, and writing materials they need to thrive. We are honoured to stand with leaders like Abubakar to ensure every child has the chance to learn.

Halima is a 15-year-old from Gwoza determined to become a nurse and care for people in her community.

Even though she struggled with basic Maths and understanding English in school, Halima never gave up. With her parents’ full support, she joined the remedial classes in her school run by the International Rescue Committee in partnership with International

In these classes, she receives extra lessons in Maths, English, and other subjects, along with learning materials to help her stay on track. Today, Halima can solve basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Her English skills are improving each day, and she now understands instructions and engages more confidently in class

Her teachers say she’s improving and most importantly, she believes in herself.

The success of the Education in Emergencies project in Gwoza funded by the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid is built on the dedication of people like Rebecca. As a learning facilitator for CHAD International, she provides vital Non-Formal Education (ABEP) to out-of-school children.

Rebecca's commitment goes beyond the classroom; it’s profoundly personal, driven by a clear vision for the children's future:

"I am doing this because I want these children to become something in life: a doctor, a teacher, and much more."

If a child feels discouraged and wants to drop out of the program, Rebecca personally visits their homes to encourage them to return to class, ensuring they stay on the path to a better future.

Thanks to the hard work of facilitators like Rebecca, we are seeing results:

1,560 Out-of-School Children (OOSC) were successfully mainstreamed into formal schools.

A special thanks to the International Rescue Committee for their essential leadership and guidance as the lead partner on this project.

Experiencing acute symptoms, Esther was at a point of high risk. CHAD's rapid response ensured she was diagnosed and started treatment immediately. Though still undergoing treatment, she is now stable and recovering well. The full course of treatment is being delivered directly to her doorstep.

"I believe if not for this intervention, I would have died."

Her stabilization confirms that our community-based delivery model is an essential, life-saving measure.

Meet Umar. He's a case worker with CHAD International, and his work in the Yamaltu Deba community, Gombe State, is all heart.

Umar doesn't just drop off medicine; he makes sure people get their lives back. He does this by leading a strong team effort: he works side-by-side with the community's local volunteers, clinic staff, and government partners to find every patient, keep track of them, and make sure they get cured. This teamwork is how we're winning the fight against Tuberculosis.

"I was frequently diagnosed with asthma and ulcer... I had TB, but no one could name it." Amina reported.

Amina's case highlights the diagnostic challenge: suffering due to misdiagnosis of her persistent cough and fatigue. Through CHAD’s community Active Case Finding (ACF), we identified her true condition and initiated the correct, life-saving regimen. We ensured medication was delivered directly to her doorstep.
