Bridge for Women Development Initiative A movement to build a strong society by supporting Girls and Women especially those affected by insurgent attacks, Preparing them for better future ahead.

Women are the bedrock of every society, Communities can only be healthy and strong if we are able to breed a strong, powerful, confident, courageous and focused women. This is an organization created to build up a strong women societies by supporting girls and women especially those affected by insurgency here in Nigeria, specifically Borno State. BOWDI is the acronym for Borno Women Development I

nitiative, a movement to serve as means of educating, enlightening and training of our Girls an d women, exposing them to social environment as developing society. There is no doubt about the fact that most Borno Girls/Women are at the moment in a state of agony, vulnerable to various societal problems and life risks. This is as a result of the difficult living as a result of current insecurity activities across the state, which has subjected them to living randomly at camps as refugees. Leaving them without education or any of its relevance. This problem as widely seen, has no concrete solution for the time been, and we fear it can further lead our Girls/Women into a hard way of life. And various dangers especially as they are fragile and thus, needs any form of help to keep them safe. The founding of this movement is to safeguard the image and develop our Girls/Women, Salvage and build their future to add to the economy and reduce the level of illiteracy/ignorance in our communities, especially those affected by the insurgency. This is a course for everyone to put a collective effort , to ensure we help those victims grow a healthy and strong societies. BOWDI is therefore, focused on creating awareness in Girls/Women to set up an unbreakable state and Nation at wide, starting from classroom education to the girl-child, health issues discussion and skills training for our teenage girls/Women. There is importance in Noting that, this is a voluntary, Non-Profitable, Non-governmental and not a political organization, Strictly focused on developing Girls/Women for the benefit of the younger generations.

NERBAY Project Grand Closeout Workshop | Celebrating Partnership, Learning and Impact

BOWDI, in partnership with Action Against Hunger (ACF) Action Against Hunger Nigeria conducted a two-day Grand Closeout Workshop for the Nutrition Emergency Response in Borno & Yobe (NERBAY) Project on 12–13 August 2026.

Funded by the French Initiative for Food and Nutrition , the project supported nutrition, food security and livelihoods, and BabyWASH interventions across Konduga and Nganzai LGAs in Borno State, and Nguru and Machina LGAs in Yobe State.

The workshop brought together BOWDI and ACF teams, State and Local Government stakeholders from Konduga and Nganzai LGAs, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), and the Ministry of Agriculture. It provided a platform to reflect on achievements, challenges, lessons learned, sustainability, and opportunities for future collaboration.

Strengthening Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

BOWDI staff participated in a training on fire prevention, preparedness, and emergency response, facilitated by the Federal Fire Service, Borno State Command.

The training enhanced participants' understanding of fire safety fundamentals, fire hazards, classes of fire, the appropriate use of fire extinguishers, and emergency evacuation procedures. A live fire extinguisher demonstration provided staff with practical, hands-on experience in responding to fire emergencies.

By strengthening staff capacity in fire safety and emergency preparedness, BOWDI continues to promote a safe and secure working environment for its personnel and the communities it serves.

Strengthening Safe, Inclusive, and Gender-Responsive Education!

BOWDI joined the Borno State Government, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and partners at the Borno State Education Summit 2026, supported by the Malala Fund

Held under the theme, “Strengthening Safe, Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Education,” the summit brought together key stakeholders to advance collaborative solutions that improve access to safe, inclusive, and quality education for every child, especially those affected by conflict.

BOWDI remains committed to supporting efforts that ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and build a brighter future.
