Dignity in Every Cycle
As part of our efforts to ending period poverty, One Tribe Initiative in collaboration with Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment - WISE trained women to produce reusable sanitary pads. These women have returned to their communities to train other women on reusable sanitary pads production, raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, and promote the proper use and care of reusable pads.
Together, we are not just empowering women but we are also improving their menstrual health, building their confience and ensuring that more girls and women can manage their periods with dignity.

Today, we join the world in marking Menstrual Hygiene Day and reaffirming the importance of menstrual health, dignity, and education for every girl.

Across many rural communities in Nigeria, the lack of access to sanitary products and the spread of misinformation continue to affect girls’ confidence, personal hygiene, and education.

At One Tribe Initiative, we are not only teaching young girls in rural communities how to produce reusable sanitary pads, but also empowering young people to become agents of change within their communities by breaking harmful norms, challenging misinformation, and creating open conversations around menstrual health.

Through these efforts, young girls are helping to build communities where every girl can manage her period with dignity, confidence and support.

Under this year’s theme “Together for a Period Friendly World,” we must move beyond symbolic conversations and acknowledge this truth: you cannot invest in women’s health while ignoring menstrual health.

A period-friendly world means:
• Policies that protect dignity
• Schools and workplaces that support menstruating girls and women
• Access to accurate information, healthcare, water, sanitation, and menstrual products
• Breaking menstrual stigmas
