Calabar on Tuesday ,30th Sept,2025 with the theme– Sponsoring dreams, securing the future.
The Rotary Club of Calabar, led by President Joyce Ogar and dedicated members, reaffirmed its commitment to community service and youth empowerment today by hosting a successful career talk and providing crucial financial assistance to indigent students at Pinn Margaret Secondary School.
The event kicked off with an engaging Career Talk designed to inspire and guide the students in making informed decisions about their futures. Rotary Club members, who represent a diverse array of professions including Designers, medicine, law, engineering, cooks etc shared their personal journeys, offering practical advice on career planning, skill development, and overcoming professional challenges. The students were actively involved, participating in a vibrant Q&A session that addressed their curiosities about the world of work.
Following the talk, the Rotary Club performed its commitment to removing barriers to education by facilitating the payment of school fees for several indigent students. This critical intervention ensures that bright, deserving students can continue their studies without interruption.
The President emphasized the club's focus on education, stating, “Investing in the education of our youth is investing in the future of Calabar. By sharing our expertise and relieving the burden of school fees, we are giving these students the tools and the chance they need to succeed and ultimately become positive contributors to society.”
The Principal of Pinn Margaret Secondary School, Mrs Agnes Bassey Nyong , expressed profound gratitude for the gesture. In her words "This support is invaluable. It’s not just about paying fees; it’s about giving hope and confirming to our students that their education matters to the community,” she further called on individuals, the Cross River state Government, ministry of Education to further assist them by facilitating the reconstruction of their dilapidated school blocks and redeployimg teachers to their school as they lack teachers to teach science subjects.
