Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights Statement on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026
Theme: "Trapped Behind the Scam"

Today, July 30, Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights joins the global community to commemorate the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

Human trafficking is not just a crime against persons — it is a violation of consumer rights. Victims are lured with false promises of jobs, products, and opportunities, only to be exploited, deceived, and stripped of their dignity and freedom.

This year’s theme, *"Trapped Behind the Scam"*, reminds us that modern trafficking thrives on misinformation, fake job ads, and fraudulent schemes that target vulnerable job seekers and consumers across Nigeria and beyond.

At Mazik Foundation, we believe that protecting consumers means protecting people from exploitation. We stand with survivors, and we call for:
1. *Stronger consumer protection* against fraudulent recruitment and online scams
2. *Greater awareness* so citizens can identify and reject trafficking traps disguised as opportunities
3. *Justice and support* for victims, and accountability for perpetrators

We urge government agencies, civil society, and communities in Aba and across Nigeria to work together to end impunity and cut off the profits that fuel trafficking.

No person should be treated as a commodity.

Protecting Those Who Built Our Society. 🤝🏾

Elder abuse is a silent injustice that affects some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. Many older Nigerians have spent their lives contributing to the growth and development of our families and nation — they deserve respect, dignity, and protection.

On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights stands with our elders and calls on families, communities, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and all stakeholders to take action against fraud, exploitation, neglect, and abuse.

Scamming a pensioner is not just a financial crime — it is a betrayal of someone who deserves our care and gratitude.

Let us protect our elders.
Let us respect their rights.
Let us build a society where every older person feels safe, valued, and supported.

Report elder abuse. Speak up. Be the voice for those who deserve dignity.

“Silent sacrificial men, we see you and appreciate your presence every day.”

International Men's Day is more than just a date; it serves as a reminder to recognize the positive impact men have on families, communities, and society as a whole. It highlights the importance of men's health, well-being, and the need for gender equality. The day encourages discussions about the challenges men face, including mental health issues, and promotes positive male role models.

Happy International Men's Day from Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights.
