WHEN CHILDREN FEEL UNSAFE, frightened or vulnerable, they become unusually attached to an adult they perceive as a source of comfort and security.

This can look like excessive clinginess, reluctance to leave that person's side, or constantly seeking their reassurance and approval.

While strong attachments are often healthy and natural, sudden changes in a child's behaviour or emotional dependence can sometimes signal that they are struggling with fear, stress, or uncertainty.

Pay attention, listen carefully, create safe spaces where children feel protected, valued, and heard.

Because every child's behaviour tells a story and sometimes, it's asking for help.

AS PARENTS, ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS YOU CAN give a child is awareness.

We teach our children how to read, write, and navigate the world, but we must also teach them how to recognize unsafe situations, understand personal boundaries, and speak up when something doesn't feel right.

Awareness is not about creating fear. It is about building confidence, knowledge, and protection.

Teach your child that their body belongs to them. Teach them that they have the right to say "No" to unwanted touch. Teach them the difference between safe and unsafe secrets. Teach them that no adult should make them feel uncomfortable, afraid, or pressured to keep things hidden.

Most importantly, teach them that they can always come to you.

Many children suffer in silence because they are unsure of what is happening, afraid they won't be believed, or simply don't know how to express their concerns. This is why these conversations matter.

A CHILD SAFETY BEGINS WITH AWARENESS.

Too often, signs are missed because we assume "everything is fine."

Protecting children requires paying attention, asking questions, and creating environments where they feel safe enough to speak.

The more aware we become, the safer our children become.

08/06/2026

We confronted one of the most urgent issues of our time: child abuse and trauma.

Because when adults are informed, children are protected. Families heal. Futures are transformed.

Through the Train The Trainers Summit, TDIC Foundation is equipping parents, teachers, caregivers, and community leaders across Nigeria to break harmful cycles and create safer environments for children to thrive.

πŸ’™ Join the movement.
