Some MTFSA members took part in the FISTF International Open of Italy in Messina. In the Veteran Category, John Zammit (SC Stembert) won his group with convincing results & advanced to the Last 8 where he won against Amerigo Scatamacchia (ITA) 1-0 & then he lost in the semi final against Marco Averna (ITA) 3-1. Stanley Farrugia Randon (H'Attard SC) also qualified from his group with second place but was eliminated in the Barrage phase. Emanuel Camilleri (SC Langton Green) & Walter Attard (H'Attard SC) also played the Veteran Category but were eliminated in the group phase.
In the Open Category, Spencer Conti (SC Reggio Calabria) reached the Last 16 after qualifying from his group with second place, only to be eliminated by Carmelo Sciacca (ITA) 4-1. The other H'Attard SC player that took part in the Open Category but did not qualify from the group phase was Mario Fleri Soler. While Luke Xerri & Robert Farrugia Randon, both H'Attard SC Under 20 players gained some experience by taking part in the Open Category.
In their respective categories, Luke Xerri finished runner up in the Under 16 category, while Robert Farrugia Randon claimed the Under 20 category by winning 5-3 against Luke Xerri.
In the Team Category, H'Attard SC won their opening matches against Perolo (ITA) 3-0 & Paola Juniors (ITA) 4-0. Then they faced Italian Serie B side Reggio Calabria & lost 3-1. In the Last 8, they faced Italian Serie A side SC Catania & lost 4-0. John Zammit & Spencer Conti also represented their sides in the Team Category.
