Soft, warm vegan crêpe loaded with vegan Nutella + fresh banana 🤍🍌
Found at the Woodland Christmas Market in Ta’ Qali National Park — and honestly, I was so happy to see so many vegan options around!

Proof that festive treats can be 100% plant-based and just as indulgent 😌

🛑 Antibiotic Resistance: More Than Just a Health Crisis — It’s a Wake-Up Call For What We Eat 🛑

“We’re going to lose the arms race every time…”

“Overuse and misuse of antibiotics … both in humans and in agriculture … is a driving force behind the growing crisis of antibiotic resistance.”

“Resistant bacteria are estimated to have caused 1.27 million deaths globally in 2019.”

“If things continue as they are, … resistant bacteria could contribute to up to 8.22 million deaths per year by 2050 …”

“About 70 per cent of (antibiotic use) is in agriculture,” he said. “From an agricultural standpoint, it enables animals to grow bigger, but it obviously has significant detrimental effects in the creation of antimicrobial resistance.”

“Antimicrobial resistance … is a complex problem that requires … coordinated approach across … the human health, food production, animal and environmental sectors.”

Bogoch highlighted the “One Health” concept — the idea that health care doesn’t exist in a vacuum. As the World Health Organization explains: “the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, plants, and the wider environment (including ecosystems) are closely linked and interdependent.”

✨ Why this matters:
When nearly 70% of antibiotics are used in animal agriculture — not to treat illness, but to make animals grow faster and to compensate for the overcrowded, unsanitary conditions they are forced to live in — we are accelerating the rise of superbugs.

This isn’t just an animal issue. It’s a human issue. It’s an environmental issue. It’s all connected.

🌱 What you can do:

Choose plant-based options and reduce demand for industrial animal products

Support policies banning routine, non-therapeutic antibiotic use in livestock

Speak up: most people have no idea how tightly our food system and antibiotic resistance are linked

Drug resistant organisms are waging war on one of humanity’s most widely used health measures, anti-biotics.

🌱 VeganFest Malta 2025 – Small island, big plant-based energy! 🇲🇹✨

This was only the second edition of Vegan Fest Malta, but the turnout—and the food—were next level. I went early and there were already crowds queuing up for everything from vegan pastizzi to gooey biscoff doughnuts. It’s amazing to see the vegan community growing steadily here in Malta, with more local creators stepping up and proving that ethical eating doesn’t mean giving up tradition or taste.

Here’s what I tried (and loved):
🥐 Rikotta & pea pastizzi (yes, VEGAN!)
🍞 Truffle & cheese toastie + hash browns
🍩 Maltese-style & biscoff doughnuts
🍫 Jo’s Delights sweet treats
(plus some spring rolls, bao buns, sourdough, and fries I ate too fast to photograph 😅)

Everything was 100% plant-based and mostly made by local businesses. Events like this give me so much hope—not just for the animals, but for a more sustainable, compassionate future in Malta.

Did you go too? What were your favourites?

💔 While this weekend VeganFest Malta will be a vibrant celebration of life, compassion, health, and justice for all sentient beings, another event—one I won’t dignify by naming—has been organised to celebrate the consumption of animal corpses.

Yes—while we’ll be promoting a future rooted in peace, sustainability, and respect, others will be glorifying the violent, state-sanctioned killing of innocent animals. This grotesque display comes at a time when we know beyond doubt that animal agriculture is a leading cause of climate breakdown, species extinction, pandemic risk, worker exploitation, and the obesity and chronic disease epidemics that burden our healthcare systems.

All of this is not only accepted—but subsidised by our taxes. This is not just cruel—it’s obscene.

To all attending Vegan Fest: thank you for standing on the side of life, justice, and truth. Our movement is growing, and no amount of carnist spectacle will stop the tide of change. 🌱✊

🌱 Can a plant-based diet support chronic neurological health? Science says: yes.

One of the chapters in a new book I’ve written, A Roadmap to Surviving Multiple Sclerosis, is dedicated entirely to nutrition—specifically, how a whole food, plant-based diet can support well-being, reduce inflammation, and potentially slow the progression of chronic conditions like MS.

📘 This chapter explores:
✔️ The evidence for plant-based diets in neurological disease management
✔️ What the Swank Diet & OMS recommend (spoiler: mostly plants!)
✔️ How to handle common objections like cost, protein, or cooking skills
✔️ Realistic, science-backed ways to start making better food choices

It’s not a “vegan book” per se, but it strongly supports plant-based nutrition as a core pillar of health. If you're curious about the connection between food and long-term wellness—or you're supporting someone navigating chronic illness—this chapter was written with that in mind.
