As we continue working passionately towards turning this project into a reality, we want to share an important step forward with our community.
To help support and sustain the initiative, we will soon be opening our doors for room rentals. This will not only contribute to funding the project, but also create meaningful opportunities for the community to connect with and be part of what we are building.

Our day at Ta’ Lazzru Farm has come to an end, and we couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful experience.

From harvesting fresh strawberries to sharing a meal together, the girls had the opportunity to connect with nature, food and each other; even taking home plants they cared for themselves.

A heartfelt thank you Joanne and Rhiannon from Ta' Lazzru for collaborating with us on this initiative. Their warmth, generosity, and willingness to share their knowledge created a space where the girls felt welcomed, and inspired, & truly enjoyed every moment.

Ta’ Lazzru Farm (est. 1908)

We’re excited to collaborate with Ta’ Lazzru Farm to provide a special experience at their family farm!

The farm has been part of their family for over a century, and they love bringing that tradition to life for their visitors. They blend their rich farming heritage with a fresh, modern perspective, creating a welcoming space where learning and fun go hand in hand.

A group of young girls will have the opportunity to enjoy access to the farm, hands-on activities, and a seasonal workshop designed to create an immersive day in nature.

🚜 What to expect:
* Farming & Hands-On Activities – Get your hands in the soil while planting, harvesting, weeding, and taking part in seasonal tasks.
* Team-Building Experience – Fun farm-based challenges.

Participants will leave inspired, with new skills, stronger connections, and a deeper appreciation for sustainable farming and healthy eating.

🌱 Free Farm to Fork Experience for Young Girls 🍅

The Anna Initiative, in collaboration with Ta' Lazzru Farms, is offering a unique and hands-on Farm to Fork experience designed especially for young girls aged 11–12 years and it’s completely FREE of charge.

Participants will spend a full day at the farm, where they will:

🌿 Learn about seasonal farming
🌱 Plant and harvest fresh produce
🚜 Take part in traditional farm tasks
🍝 Cook the vegetables they harvest and turn them into a delicious homemade pasta dish

This is a wonderful opportunity for young girls to connect with nature, learn valuable life skills, and enjoy a fun and educational day outdoors.

📅 Date: 19th March 2026
👧 Age Group: 11–12 year old girls
🎟 Cost: Free of charge
📌 Reservations: First come, first served

Ms. Josianne Spiteri

I have been an employee of the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja (CVB) for the past 16 years, a journey that has deeply shaped my commitment to community service, education, and social responsibility. Through my employment at CVB, I have witnessed firsthand the power of support, guidance, and opportunity in shaping young girl’s futures.
I am honoured to join The Anna Initiative as the board’s secretary, as I believe in supporting and empowering girls, particularly by helping them build confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for their future. I strongly believe that empowering girls through education and mentorship is key to creating lasting change, not only for individuals, but for society as a whole.
Currently I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Finance, I strongly believe and advice people for lifelong learning. My personal motto is that it is never too late to study, grow, and become a better version of oneself. This belief drives me to pursue an academic journey and my passion is to encouraging young women to invest in their education and personal development.
Through my work with The Anna Initiative, I am hoping to inspire girls to believe in their potential, embrace learning, and take confident steps toward a future filled with opportunity.

Dr. Krista Ellul

I am excited to share that I am joining The Anna Initiative as a committee member! This initiative is dedicated to organizing educational programs that empower young women in need, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to build brighter futures.
With my background in law, I understand the importance of access to education, financial literacy, and mentorship in shaping opportunities. I’m passionate about supporting young women, especially those facing challenges, by helping to create opportunities that give them confidence and independence.

Dr. Nikki Petroni

Dr Nikki Petroni is an art historian with a specialisation in modern and contemporary art. With over a decade of experience in the arts sector, she has worked extensively as a researcher, curator, project manager, lecturer, and cultural policy advisor. Nikki pursued postgraduate studies in Art History at University College London (UCL). She completed a Ph.D. in Maltese Modern art at the University of Malta in 2019. She is the Education and Development Executive at Arts Council Malta, and is also the editor of the Malta Cultural Annual (published by the Culture Directorate). Nikki joined the Anna Initiative in 2024.

Dr. Justine Swain

As a paediatrician, I’ve spent many years supporting children and young people through some of the most pivotal, and often vulnerable, stages of their lives. Over time, I’ve realised that beyond medical care, what many young girls need is empowerment: through self-awareness, financial understanding, and essential life skills.
The Anna Initiative was created to provide that foundation, particularly for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our goal is to help teenage girls and young women develop the knowledge, confidence, and resilience they need to thrive. I’m privileged to work with an inspiring and diverse team of women who share this vision.
This initiative means a great deal to me because I believe that when young women are emotionally secure, financially informed, and practically capable, they can shape their futures with confidence and purpose.

Meet our team:
Ms. Rodianne Abela

Rodianne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (B.Psy Hons) and has built a diverse career across the public and private sectors. She began her professional journey within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, where she gained firsthand experience in supporting individuals and families, deepening her understanding of social dynamics and the importance of empowerment through education and guidance.
Her career later evolved into the business sphere, where she served as a Business Developer within an electrical company before transitioning to a similar role in the retail industry. Throughout her professional path, Rodianne has remained committed to fostering growth-in people, in business, and within the community.
As Chairperson of The Anna Initiative, a sub-committee of the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja Board of Trustees, she leads the organisation’s mission to empower young women through educational programmes, mentorship, and community engagement, aiming to equip girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build fulfilling and independent futures.
