These sessions fostered a safe and supportive environment where students were able to learn, openly share their experiences, and confidently express their perspectives.

The project is funded by Pure Earth's Opportunity Fund (www.pureearth.org) and implemented in partnership with Community Sustainable Development Platform (CSDP).

The project seeks to address critical environmental and public health challenges associated with Lead (Pb) pollution, while raising awareness, promoting environmental monitoring of formal and informal lead generation sources, community awareness and outreach, stakeholder engagement, and influencing national Lead policy through advocacy.

Through collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, and communities, we will work closely with vulnerable populations, especially women and children, in protecting them from the harmful impacts of environmental pollution.

Over 12 months, WYDI and CSDP will implement activities in 10 communities across Montserrado County and collaborate with stakeholders to promote healthier communities and strengthen environmental governance.

Pure Earth partners with governments in low- and middle-income countries to prevent exposure to toxic pollutants, advancing public health and economic growth.

Through our ongoing dialogue sessions with students across five schools in Montserrado County, we recently engaged students at ED Mol Matadi Baptist School in Sinkor, Monrovia, to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

The session created a safe and supportive environment where students gained knowledge, shared their experiences, and amplified their voices.

We are helping to empower students to become informed advocates and agents of change within their respective schools and communities by encouraging open conversation and active participation.

As part of Activity 3 under the ๐‘บ๐’‚๐’‡๐’† ๐‘บ๐’‘๐’‚๐’„๐’†๐’”, ๐‘บ๐’•๐’“๐’๐’๐’ˆ ๐‘ฝ๐’๐’Š๐’„๐’†๐’” (๐‘บ๐‘บ๐‘บ๐‘ฝ) project, we were warmly welcomed by the Administration of R. C. Lawson Institute in Monrovia to engage Grade 11 and 12 students through interactive classroom dialogue sessions.

More than 50 students participated, helping to create a supportive and inclusive environment centered on raising awareness, sharing personal experiences, practicing empathetic listening, and strengthening peer support.

Through open conversations and meaningful connections, we continue to raise awareness around gender-based violence (GBV) while fostering a safe platform for inclusive dialogue, one where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to speak up.

Bringing together over 90 students, the session created a supportive environment focused on raising awareness, sharing experiences, listening with empathy, and fostering peer support.

The project seeks to enhance community participation in land and environmental governance, promote sustainable livelihoods through capacity-building efforts, and strengthen accountability within mining-affected communities across Bomi County.

The inception meeting served to officially introduce the project, outline its planned activities, and provide a platform for continued collaboration among government agencies, community leaders, and civil society organizations.

As WYDI wraps up Day 2 of the Youth Leaders and Facilitators Training, it is clear to note that young people are central to building safer and more inclusive communities.

Day 2 brought together youth leaders from five schools and communities across Montserrado County, equipping them with the skills and confidence to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and inspire positive change in their schools and communities. Through engaging and interactive sessions, participants strengthened their understanding of youth leadership, facilitation skills, and how to create safe spaces where everyone feels respected, heard, and supported.

The training also focused on advocacy and community action, helping participants learn how to identify key issues, craft clear and impactful messages, and engage the right audiences. Young leaders explored practical approaches, such as awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and using social media as a powerful tool for change.

By the end of the training, participants were not only informed but empowered, ready to support their peers, challenge harmful norms, and actively promote gender equality.

Together, they are turning knowledge into action and leading the way toward safer and more inclusive communities.
