Community Film is a new service organisation that raises awareness for the less fortunate communities of Sri Lanka through promotional films. It was co-founded by Shloak Aggarwal and Mohamed Akbarally in September, 2015, as a way to recognise the local communities that were supported by the Overseas School of Colombo. Why use film? We currently live in the age of technology, where the production o
f the mobile phone and television have been ever-increasing. However it is only this audience, who have the financial sustainability to buy these products that can bring forth their help. Therefore by using film as a platform for education and awareness, we are reaching the types of people who could make a difference. As service leaders we strive to creating these films that can help strengthen the communities we live in.
