Community Film is a new service organisation that raises awareness for the less fortunate communities of Sri Lanka through promotional films. It was co-founded by Shloak Aggarwal and Mohamed Akbarally in September, 2015, as a way to recognise the local communities that were supported by the Overseas School of Colombo. Why use film? We currently live in the age of technology, where the production of the mobile phone and television have been ever-increasing. However it is only this audience, who have the financial sustainability to buy these products that can bring forth their help. Therefore by using film as a platform for education and awareness, we are reaching the types of people who could make a difference. As service leaders we strive to creating these films that can help strengthen the communities we live in.
