As the world moves on, the truth is Jamaica needs aid. People are doing their best, the scale of the destruction is really unfathomable unless you see it yourself. Peoples have no electricity, no food, and very little in terms of clothing, supplies or ways to make money. They are reliant upon aid from the international community and will be for the near future.

Chabad a Jamaica is doing our part — we are doing our part to help Jamaica back on its feet. From retrofitting our Kosher Hot Spot to serve free meals to delivering aid packages to communities far away from major population centers, we are responding to the crisis with all the resources available to us.

For the foreseeable future, Jamaica will need aid, but we can do our part to help. Please share our link www.jewishJamaica.com/relief and help us help Jamaica. Every $180 you give can provide supplies that will last a week for families. We are providing tarps and generators to help people who have no roofs and no electricity live somewhat normally.

There is so much destruction and devastation that it’s hard to know where to start, but we’re doing what we can to help people in need. Thank you for your assistance.

Photos from Monday’s food distribution. We’ve partnered with to serve food to Jamaicans who have lost electricity, food and water. A warm meal is so more than l bodily sustenance, it’s truly nourishment for the soul. At times like this word it’s so easy to become discouraged, warm meals can bring joy and Hope to so many.

We ask for your support to continue these operations. The immediate need is so immense and much more will be needed in the coming months as Jamaica rebounds from the great destruction of last week’s hurricane.

Aid distribution this morning in Savannah Del Mar. We handed out hundreds of bags of aid, with canned beans, nuts, corned beef, bully beef, sardines, toilet paper, bottled water, protein bars, granola bars, flashlights and solar lights.

We also brought a plumber with us, who helped 10 houses get their water and plumbing back. We also helped put tarps on roofs of houses where we could.

The aid we are giving is just a drop in the bucket, Jamaica needs everyone’s help

It was a pleasure to speak with Nachum Segal from JM in the a.m. radio show this morning. We spoke about the aid distribution that is ongoing in Jamaica, what life is like for Jews here, and how the Chabad has grown over the years. We also discussed the importance of having faith, how G-d is in control of everything, and what is next following this devastating hurricane.
