The IYF Kingston held the Hummingbird Concert at the National Indoor Sports Centre. Throughout the preparation process, we were able to see God’s guidance and provision as He opened doors and helped us in many ways.
Prior to the event, a VIP reception was held with approximately 30 guests in attendance, including the Member of Parliament for South Eastern St. Andrew Julian Robinson, the Consuls of Trinidad and Tobago and The Bahamas, the CEO of Lama Wholesale, the CEO of Pioneering Manufacturing, the Marketing Manager of LASCO, government officials, and local pastors.
The concert opened with the Jamaican Military Band performing the national anthem. This was followed by performances from Jamaica’s beloved national singer Alain, the Hummingbird Choir, Morning Glory Kids Choir, Living Hope Youth Choir, and Marq Johnson, Michael Wilson, Jai Kingston, Praise Academy of Dance.
It was especially meaningful that the Hummingbird Choir was able to premiere two original songs composed by its members. During the preparation period, the Morning Glory Kids Choir was also invited as a special Children's Month guest on JTV’s morning program, one of Jamaica’s largest television networks. This provided a valuable opportunity to promote the Hummingbird Concert to a wider audience.
During the message session, Pastor Kevin shared the gospel through the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. We could see many audience members listening attentively and opening their hearts to the gospel. This year, unlike previous years, we prepared a short drama about a mother’s love before the message. We were thankful to see how the drama helped many attendees open their hearts and receive the gospel message that followed.
We are grateful to the Lord for allowing us, though small and insufficient like the five barley loaves, to take part in this precious work. We also thank Him for His grace in using this concert to share the gospel with many people and for faithfully guiding every step of the event See less
