Today is . We send our love to those of you who have lost a baby (at any point) or child. If you know a bereaved father, let him know you remember his child. You will not be reminding him - he does not forget - but it will warm his heart to know his child is not forgotten.

Dads can get forgotten as they dig deep into silent strength trying to carry on as normal, supporting Mums and being strong for them, all the while dealing with their own grief.

We are always here for you and wish you all a gentle day ❤

🌈 A "rainbow baby" is a phrase used by some to describe a baby born after a loss.

"A rainbow is a promise of sunshine after rain,
of calm after storms, of joy after sadness
of peace after pain and of love after loss."

For many, a rainbow baby can feel like a source of light after a period of darkness. But it doesn’t mean that the pain of loss disappears, or that grief is somehow ‘cured’.

Every baby is their own unique and special person. A rainbow baby can never replace the babies we have lost — their memories are cherished, and they are always loved. A new baby may bring more balance, love and joy into our lives, but they don’t take away the grief we carry.

Some are still hoping and waiting for their rainbow. Some know, sadly, that they will never have one. Some may choose not to try again. Whatever your journey, we hold you close in our thoughts. ❤️

Please know that Philip’s Footprints is here for everyone - before, during and after loss, through subsequent pregnancies and beyond.

If you are pregnant with your rainbow baby, our website has details of how we can support you through pregnancy after loss, including our Pregnancy After Loss Support Group.

I’ve had two rainbow babies. One we sadly lost, but one we were lucky enough to bring home - and this is him (although taller than me now!)

We’d love it if you shared your Rainbow Babies with us too ❤️

Some kinds of grief are impossible to explain to someone when the world keeps moving but yours has gone strangely dark.

People notice the change. They just don’t always know how to look at you anymore.

Maybe that’s part of grief, too - being seen, but not really seen and when darkness is the only language you have.

🚨 WARNING 🚨 Temperatures are back up over 30C this week! 😎

It might seem like a good idea to shade your baby's pram with a blanket or cloth

BUT it can make the temperature inside dangerously hot, increasing the chance of heatstroke or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Simple tips to help keep baby cool on hot days:

- Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day
- Remove the back panel on your pram (if it has one) to allow air to flow
- Use a sun shade, parasol or pram umbrella to provide shade without blocking ventilation
- Keep to the shade when out and about

Stay safe, stay cool and enjoy the sunshine!

The Missing Ones 💙

As the school year comes to an end many children will celebrate important milestones. Some will move up a year, while others will leave primary or secondary school, college or university, ready to begin their new chapter.

But for some families there is no leavers' assembly. No awards. No prom. No graduation. No next chapter to celebrate.

Grief is not just about losing them; it's also learning to live a life you never imagined without them. While the rawness of grief softens with time, there will always be milestones - and ordinary days - when it looms large. Yet whilst our hearts grieve for those we've lost, we can still make room for the moments of happiness that come into our lives, joy and sadness can co-exist.

If this time of year feels especially difficult, please know you're not alone. We're here for you, now or anytime ❤️
