It’s ! Did you know that volunteering in Jersey is valued at £75 million annually?

Our local research, carried out last year with PwC Channel Islands, surveyed 13 health and care charities and found they generate an estimated £137 million in social and economic value annually, delivering up to £2.66 for every £1 invested.

Jersey’s third sector....

💰️Contributes more than £230 million to the island economy
👩🏻‍💼Employs over 3,500 people (12% of the workforce)
🙌And is supported by more than 5,800 volunteers

Without these volunteers change just wouldn’t happen.

To every Islander giving their time or professional skills to support our community, a huge thank you. And to our volunteer board of trustees and directors, thank you for your valuable time and skills and for helping drive forward a culture of effective philanthropy based on local need in Jersey.

Thanks to a Channel Islands Lottery Arts and Heritage grant of £17,878, distributed by the Jersey Community Foundation, Youth Arts Jersey has upgraded its main hall with industry-standard sound and lighting equipment, transforming opportunities for young performers and technicians.

The project included:
• New professional sound desk, stage box & lighting screen
• Electronic drum kit & modern guitar amps
• Replacement microphones, cables, stands & DI boxes
• Improved reliability and performance quality

This has resulted in:
• Young people gaining hands-on experience with professional equipment
• Better live performance experiences for performers and audiences
• Increased confidence, collaboration, and technical skills
• Futureproofed facilities for ongoing creative development in Jersey

“We can’t express enough just how transformative this upgrade has been... Our young members were absolutely thrilled with the new setup, and we received fantastic feedback from the 150+ audience members about the quality of the sound and performances.” Carmel Butel, Jersey Youth Service

ADHD Jersey supports children, adults, and families living with ADHD across the island, many of whom seek help after years of feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or unsupported.

Thanks to a grant of £3,500 from the Supporting the Supporters Fund, the organisation is introducing targeted training for volunteers, trustees, and frontline staff.

Trauma-informed care training will equip the team to better understand trauma responses, support individuals with compassion and manage complex and emotionally demanding situations without experiencing burnout. This will improve both volunteer wellbeing and the consistency of support provided.

Alongside this, media skills training will prepare key spokespeople to communicate clearly and confidently in public and media settings. It will support them in handling sensitive topics, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and representing the organisation professionally.

Together, these two strands create a practical support package that strengthens emotional resilience and public communication.

This investment ensures ADHD Jersey’s team is supported, confident, and sustainable — enabling continued delivery of safe, trusted, and high-quality support for families across Jersey.

Supporting the Supporters
Fund Open! Apply by 21 June

🙏Jersey’s Third Sector is powered by over 5,800 volunteers, and that’s just the official number – there are many more working to help others in their own homes.

💚We understand that people providing support often need support too. Or just a cake and a cup of tea to say Thank You.

🍰The Supporting the Supporters Fund, in partnership with the Sedel-Collings Foundation, is here to help the people behind the scenes—those keeping our charities and voluntary organisations running.

Are you working to support the wellbeing and development of your staff, volunteers, or trustees? We have funds of up to £5,000 to help you do just that.

Thanks to a £15,000 grant from the Greville Bathe and Anne Alice Rayner Funds, Family First is strengthening its ability to support families during some of the most difficult moments imaginable.

When a child requires specialist medical treatment off-island, families often face not only emotional distress but urgent and unexpected financial pressures. Family First works closely with local children’s charities to secure funding for travel and accommodation and there are times when immediate support is needed.

This funding will establish a dedicated emergency support fund, enabling Family First to respond quickly when families are in crisis. This includes situations where:
✈️A child is airlifted to the UK for urgent treatment and parents need immediate travel support
💳️Families remain off island for extended periods and have exhausted other funding sources
💚Unexpected costs arise during complex treatment where delays would increase stress and hardship

This flexible, last-resort fund reduces stress and financial pressure so families can focus on what truly matters — being there for their child during treatment and recovery.

We’re proud to support the Neighbourhood Health Champions programme, an initiative designed to strengthen community wellbeing, belonging and connection across Jersey.

Created by Lifestyle Medicine Jersey and funded by a grant of £30,000 from the Jersey Community Fund, at its heart this project is about empowering people to improve their health in ways that are accessible, practical and free from financial barriers. This is particularly important in the context of the ongoing cost of living pressures affecting many households.

The Neighbourhood Health Champions will help residents access free and low-cost local wellbeing resources, including:
🔹Community walking groups and outdoor activity
🔹Social and support networks
🔹Food initiatives and community resources
🔹Local wellbeing and support services

They will promote Lifestyle Medicine and help people make practical, lasting changes to improve their health, without cost being a barrier. Neighbourhood Health Champions will act as trusted local connectors, helping to strengthen relationships, reduce isolation and ensure more people feel supported, informed, and included.

Together, this is about more than health services, it’s about building stronger, fairer, and more connected communities across Jersey.

Opening the world of dance to every child in Jersey

We are delighted to support Ballet d'Jèrri with £30,000 from the Jersey Community Fund, using funds from Dormant Bank Accounts, to help expand their Equal Access Through Dance Education programme.

As Jersey’s national ballet company, Ballet d’Jèrri brings professional dancers directly into local schools, giving students the chance to experience high-quality dance education and creative expression — often for the first time. Through workshops, school residencies and performance opportunities, young people develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills while discovering that the arts belong to them.

Working in partnership with schools across the Island and with cultural partners including Jersey Opera House, the programme will continue to deliver creative experiences for primary and secondary school students, particularly those who may not otherwise have access to the arts.

Future plans include opportunities for students to perform on stage at Jersey Opera House and the development of a Pathways Programme, supporting talented young dancers from all backgrounds to continue their training.

By making dance education accessible and inclusive, Ballet d’Jèrri is helping ensure that every young person in Jersey can participate in and shape the Island’s cultural life.

The Jersey Community Fund is our largest fund, pooling funds from Dormant bank Accounts and private donors, and provides support to the island community based on present need.

The next deadline for applications is 17 May, visit our website or get in touch for more information on how to apply.
