This afternoon some of our members attended a light lunch hosted by Carers Jersey in the beautiful grounds of Government House.

Lady Kyd, patron of Carers Jersey, thanked all carers for the fantastic work they do to care for their loved ones and everyone who supports Jersey Carers, after which everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by .s.k_jsy.

Soroptimist International Jersey founded Carers Jersey in 1994 and it was led for many years by the late Soroptimist Dr Margaret Bayes MBE. Every year we fund a recharger day for carers which gives around 70 carers a break from their usual routine to meet one another and enjoy lunch and entertainment.

We are delighted to have sponsored this project.

Debbie Taylor, President, SI Jersey, said:
"Soroptimist International Jersey are proud to have funded the 'Find Your Voice' programme.
Our mission is to improve the lives of women and girls by educating, enabling and empowering women through our activism.
Music used as a non-judgemental, accessible tool has allowed the women to explore a sense of themselves and how they see themselves in the community. The skills which the women have learnt through this programme has helped them not only whilst in custody but will also be valuable after release."

The States of Jersey Prison Service has successfully delivered a songwriting, singing and recording project on the female wing at La Moye Prison, through the Prison's Education Department.

The initiative, called Find Your Voice, supports wider rehabilitation goals by strengthening skills that help reduce reoffending and support successful reintegration after release.

Funded by Soroptimist International Jersey, supported by The Moving Arts Collective and delivered by the School of Popular Music Jersey, the weekly group sessions used music to support emotional expression and wellbeing.

🚨Calling all Soroptimist SIGBI members – we’re on Good Morning Britain today!

Following the relaunch of our Railway Station Safety Survey, the findings were shared LIVE on GMB this morning as we prepare to publish the full report online from 10am onwards.

We couldn’t be prouder to see decades of work reaching a national audience and helping raise vital awareness about making rail travel safer for women and girls.

The report provides an in-depth look at safety at railway stations across the UK – highlighting what has improved and, crucially, what still needs to change since our original Future of the Railways investigation in 1996.

It also sets out clear recommendations for rail operators, Network Rail, the Department for Transport and the Office of Rail and Road on the action needed next.

A huge thank you to our Programme Director Lindsay Green for leading on collating the results, and to every SIGBI member who contributed, whether in 1996 or today. Your commitment continues to drive real change.

More updates will be shared throughout the day – please keep an eye on our channels.

Congratulations to everyone who was successful, we look forward to working with you in the future to raise awareness and push for change on the issues which are important to us in our mission to improve the lives of women and girls.

Our commiserations to those who were unsuccessful this year. Thank you for standing.

Yesterday President Debbie Taylor and President Elect Amelia Hargrove Clark attended a meeting at the States Assembly with the members of the CPA (Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK) to talk about our experiences and perspectives about the upcoming elections.

Election observation is important in promoting transparency, accountability and public confidence and participation in the electoral process across the Commonwealth.

As Soroptimists our mission is to improve the lives of women and girls so we were delighted to be able to share our views and experiences as individuals, as women and as Soroptimists. As well as talking about the hustings and electoral process we also discussed women in politics and the fact that there are fewer females standing for election this year.

To find out more about the work of the CPA go to www.uk-cpa.org/what-we-do/elections

One more day! Read the manifestos or go to .je and listen to the hustings. Debbie raised a question about the Women’s Health Strategy at the Trinity hustings and another of our members asked about the gender pay gap and action against r**e at the hustings at St Ouen’s.

PLEASE VOTE! Your voice matters!
