At SOSORT, our mission is to advance the science and practice of conservative scoliosis care — bringing together researchers, clinicians, and educators from across the globe who are dedicated to improving outcomes for people with scoliosis and spinal conditions.

Scoliosis and kyphosis can often be positively influenced with the right interventions. Physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercise (PSSE) and bracing have been shown to be effective in managing scoliosis.

PSSE involves exercises that are specifically designed to target the unique spinal curvatures of scoliosis patients, helping to improve alignment, muscle strength, and overall spinal stability. Bracing provides external support and correction to the spine, helping to realign, prevent further curvature progression and, in some cases, even reducing the degree of curvature.

Dr. Sunčica Bulat Würsching, MD, is excited to begin her tenure as president of SOSORT as of May 2026. She has been working with patients with scoliosis since 2002 and has been a part of SOSORT since 2016. Since 2018 she has helped host 2 SOSORT conferences in Dubrovnik. In 2018, she won the SOSORT award for the article “Parental role in scoliosis treatment”. She served on the SOSORT Board as member at large since 2018, as treasurer between 2019 and 2021, and as of 2022 held the role of President Elect 2 until April 2026. Her interests in SOSORT include growing and strengthening the Society through international multidisciplinary collaboration. Her personal interest in working with patients is envisioning and applying compliance supportive treatment options, especially in bracing.
