European Coordination Let's Liberate Diversity

European Coordination Let's Liberate Diversity The European Coordination Let’s Liberate Diversity! is a nonprofit organization focused on managing seed diversity.

It connects 22 members, 170 organizations in 21 European countries, and works with 15,000 farmers to conserve 40,000 plant varieties Our main goal is to BRING BACK DIVERSITY

in our food systems in a socially and economically sustainable way through the whole food chain. The diversification can be achieved linking the work of different actors involved, supporting and promoting their knowledge and

actions associated to cultivated biodiversity. To achieved this Vision, in many years of activity, EC-LLD has found that it is essential to have a platform that promotes the exchange and sharing of experiences/viewpoints/policies, in order to foster local actions and activities. The proposed methodology is a horizontal approach to training and knowledge sharing. In this way there is a horizontal exchange between the different actors who bring their knowledge and share it, going beyond the top-down approach.

We are glad to have joined this civil society-led space that brought together together EU institutions, civil society organisations, farmers’ organisations, academia, unions and international partners to discuss how to make the right to food a reality in Europe and beyond. 🌱

For , this was also an important opportunity to connect food justice with seed diversity and its role in building more resilient and fair food systems.

🌱 Can cities really change the food system?

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝟏 of the 15th LLD Forum looks at the role of municipal food policies in shaping resilient food systems. Cities are becoming key actors through public procurement, food strategies and urban-rural links, but the 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 is not firmly embedded in EU legislation, and 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 are rarely part of municipal food policy.

🍉 The session addresses this double gap and uses the LiveSeeding project as a concrete entry point to connect biodiversity, food policy and a rights-based approach.

This workshop is organised by LiveSeeding, with Mariano Iossa , LiveSeeding Coordinator.
