𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 & 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

Team Doers was invited by the Wildlife Wing, Himachal Pradesh Forest Department, to be part of the 75th Wildlife Week Celebration 2026 at the Western Himalayan Temperate Arboretum, Shimla, on 6 October.

The programme included storytelling sessions and insightful wildlife talks by experts, with college students attending and engaging with the sessions. Some students also came forward to share their interests and talents through performances, adding to the spirit of the programme.

It was a valuable opportunity to listen, learn and engage with conversations around wildlife, biodiversity and the importance of protecting our natural heritage.

We are grateful to the Wildlife Wing, Himachal Pradesh Forest Department, for inviting Team Doers and giving us the opportunity to be part of the 75th Wildlife Week celebrations. It was a meaningful experience of learning, interaction and appreciation of our rich natural heritage.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹!

Over the past two months, Team Doers had the opportunity to facilitate a series of sessions for MSHIPA Government of Himachal Pradesh, and PRTI on diverse themes related to Disaster Risk Reduction.

The sessions covered DRR Frameworks, community-based DRR, interdepartmental coordination, women’s leadership and livelihood resilience, health and WASH, disease prevention, and disaster management roles at district and block levels.

These engagements provided valuable opportunities for knowledge-sharing and strengthening capacities for disaster preparedness, community resilience and effective local response across Himachal Pradesh.

We thank MSHIPA and PRTI for these opportunities and continued engagement.

The fifth day of the 6-Day Inter-College Training Programme on Climate and Disaster Resilience under the Project focused on practical learning and emergency preparedness.

Session 6: Hands-on Learning on First Aid, CPR and Emergency Rescue Moves was led by the HP SDRF team, providing students with an opportunity to learn and practise essential emergency response skills.

Students actively participated in the session, with many volunteering individually to learn and practise the techniques under the guidance of the HP SDRF team. The hands-on demonstrations helped students gain practical knowledge of , , and # EmergencyRescueMoves, and understand how to respond during emergency situations.

The session was an engaging and valuable learning experience, encouraging students to build confidence, preparedness, and the ability to act effectively during emergencies.

The third day of the 6-Day Inter-College Training Programme under the Project focused on an educational visit to the Western Himalayan Temperate Arboretum located at Potter's Hill, Shimla, and a field-based learning activity.

The visit helped participants understand plant diversity, biodiversity, and the role of ecosystems in building resilient communities. The day also featured an Inter-College Skit, where students presented creative performances on and , highlighting key issues around climate and disaster resilience.

Through field observation, creativity, teamwork, and participation, students were encouraged to view their surroundings from a perspective and connect their learning with real-world climate and disaster risks.

The first day of the 6-Day Inter-College Training Programme under the Project was focused on building a foundational understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction

The session introduced participants to key concepts including hazards, disasters, vulnerability, exposure, and capacity, and explored how these elements contribute to the creation and reduction of disaster risk.

The training also emphasised the importance of understanding risk at the community level and strengthening capacities for effective disaster preparedness and resilience.

The programme brings together students from four colleges across Shimla city and the HPU Department of Social Work to strengthen knowledge and encourage meaningful engagement in climate and disaster resilience.

Another institution joins us in advancing climate literacy, disaster preparedness, and youth-led resilience in Himachal Pradesh.

We are pleased to announce the signing of an with Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Chaura Maidan, Shimla, under Project - Climate Literacy and Action Programme.

Through this partnership, we will strengthen DRR Clubs in alignment with UGC-NIDM guidelines and empower students with practical skills for safer and more resilient campuses.

Together, we are building a more climate-conscious and resilient Himachal Pradesh.

On 19 August, students and faculty at St. Bede's College, Shimla, took part in a hands-on session on , and , facilitated by the HP SDRF team in collaboration with Doers. An exhibition of and equipment was also conducted by HP SDRF, familiarising participants with the equipment, tools, and resources available with the state’s specialised emergency response force.

As part of Project , the session also highlighted the role of in building a culture of preparedness among young people.
