Jharkhand is on eastern part of India, surrounded by States of Bihar/ Bengal/ Orissa/ Chhattisgarh and Utter Pradesh. Jharkhand and Ranchi are having very rich cultural and heritage. As per records available Ranchi area is among the oldest Hebetate Human settlement of world. Jharkhand has rich deposits of minerals like: iron ore/ graphite/ bauxite/ magnesium/ coal/ uranium/ gold/ etc. It has also
rich reserve of Stones like marble/ Granite/ Quartz/ etc. Lions club of Ranchi East was founded on 30 Nov 1985 by 56 young citizens, with a pledge to serve the society. The Charter was signed on 17th Jan 1986 and was presented by then District Governor Ln S P Varma on 8th March 1986. To fulfil the commitment of WE SERVE, Lions Club of Ranchi , on 9th Dec 1987 started construction of multi utility Hospital in name of “NIRAMAYA HOSPITAL” at Kokar Industrial Area Ranchi. The First Floor was completed and was inaugurated on 15th Aug 1991. With the continuous support of our members/ LCIF and Donors, now we have a Four Floor building with one floor dedicated to EYE CARE. Apart from Niramaya Hospital, which is our Signature Project, we have following permanent projects:
1. WATER HUT (PIAU): To provide Fresh/ Filtered and Cool water to citizens, our club constructed a Water Hut at the City Centre, the Albert Ekka Squire, with the Help of our Past President Ln Suresh Agarwal, as Major Donor, and was dedicated to a public on 21st April 1999.
2. MULLICK SCHOOL: A School where 450 Children of slum dwellers studies, was in a very bad shape, with a dilapidated building and no civic amenities, like access to Toilet/ etc. Even students had no access to Writing Pads or text books. We adopted this School in 1996 since then we renovated the building, provided Desks/ Furniture/ Black Board/ stationary where provided on the regular course. Recently we have taken up the construction of new building of the School. Apart from these, we have the number of projects like Eye Operation/ Health check up camps/ Dental Camp/ Cleft Lip Plastic surgery Camp/ Polio Camp/ Anemia Camp/ Passenger Shed/ Welcome Sign board/ etc. Now in SILVER JUBILEE year our Club is committed to create new Landmarks under the able Leadership of our 28th President Ln Kumud jha. Our Permanent Projects are : Lions Ranchi East Niramaya Hospital, Lions Club of Ranchi East Niramaya Hospital EYE Wing with 24hrs Ambulance facility, Refrigrated Filtered Drinking Water Centre at Albert Ekka Chowk in the heart of the city, Free Squit Eye Correction, Free Cleft Lip Plastic Surgery, Free IOL Catract Surgery, Free Anaemia detection and Eradication Camps, Free Child Care Immunisation, Free Eye Care and Screening, Free Orthopedics Surgeries, Free Cancer Detection Camps, Free T.B Detection and Cure Camp, Free Hydroceil Operation Camps, Family Welfare, Clinical Laboratory, Adopted KM Mullick Govt. Middle School, First Aid Centre on National Highway 33, Passenger Sheds, Free Leprosy Detection & Cure Centre, Civic Amenities Facility at St Micheal Blind School, Alaw Project, Rain Water Harvesting & various Awareness Camps.
