We said 90 minutes. We stayed for 120. ✈️

Our very first open workshop From Thought to Takeoff: A UK Study Journey wrapped up today, and the room didn’t want to leave.

12 attendees. Real questions. Honest answers. And two incredible speakers who gave their time, stories, and wisdom generously.

A huge thank you to and ._ for showing up fully — and to every attendee who brought their curiosity and courage to the space.

This is what the JSM Mentorship Programme is built on.

If you missed it, stay close — more is coming. 🌍

🎓Announcing the Jaipal Singh Munda Mentorship Programme, A lack of guidance or networks should not limit access to overseas education. Yet, many talented students from Jharkhand’s marginalised communities miss out on global opportunities simply because they don’t receive the right mentorship at the right time.

To address this gap, APNA is launching the Jaipal Singh Munda Mentorship Programme, a 12-month, end-to-end guidance initiative designed to support students aspiring to pursue Master’s degrees overseas.

🎓What does the programme offer?

• Structured mentorship for overseas higher education
• Guidance for major international scholarships, including MGOS, Chevening, Commonwealth, Felix, and others
• Support with application strategy, documentation, and interviews
• Skill-building for global academic and cultural readiness
• Post-selection support, including transition and settling abroad

🎓Who is this programme for?

Students who:
• Are Jharkhand domiciled
• Belong to marginalised communities - Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasi
• Aspire to pursue a Master’s degree overseas
• Are seeking long-term mentorship, not just application advice

🎓Programme Timeline

• Applications open: 4 January
• Application deadline: 31 January
• Mentorship duration: 12 months (end-to-end guidance)

🎓How to apply?

The programme was launched on the birth anniversary of Late Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda, a visionary leader, freedom fighter, scholar, Olympian, and an enduring symbol of dignity, excellence, and self-determination. His legacy continues to inspire efforts towards equitable access to education and global opportunities.

The JSM Mentorship Programme is designed specifically for students from Jharkhand applying for overseas education and scholarships for the 2026–27 academic year, addressing gaps of information, mentorship, and access that often limit deserving candidates.

APNA participated in the Saksham Programme launch organized by Dhwani Foundation on December 18, 2025, at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Ranchi. We were selected as one of 31 partner organizations for this 13-month structured engagement focused on building resilient internal systems. The programme addresses gaps in organizational capacity, governance, compliance, and sustainability for small and grassroots organizations across India. The day brought together NGO leaders, funders, practitioners, and institutional stakeholders. Participating organizations presented their profiles, creating a transparent space for dialogue with funders and peers.

APNA was part of Avni’s first Launchpad Cohort, working to build a customised MIS platform that actually reflects how we work on the ground. The programme started in early December with online mentorship sessions where we mapped our workflows, identified decision points, and articulated what we actually needed from a data system. Two intense days in Bangalore on December 16-17 followed, where we refined our scoping document, built dashboards, wrote logic, set user permissions, and questioned every assumption about our processes. Beyond the technical work, it pushed us to rethink how data, accountability, and program design intersect in rights-based work.
