📌 A significant step forward for women’s safety and support systems in Jharkhand.
On 21st September 2026, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand Women Development Society (JWDS), Department of Women and Child Development & Social Security, Government of Jharkhand - a three-year partnership to strengthen support systems for women survivors across the state.
Through this collaboration, our scope of work will span around policy support, research, capacity building of government officials, and on-ground outreach alongside developing digital tools and an integrated MIS system to manage and track cases.
Grateful for this partnership and committed to building safer, more responsive systems for women across Jharkhand. 🤝

A right on paper. But how accessible is it in practice?

For families seeking admission under the Right to Education Act, the barriers can begin long before a child enters the classroom, from documentation delays and unclear application dates to limited guidance and support from schools.
Parents we spoke to shared how obtaining caste and income certificates can take weeks, while information about admission dates may not reach families in time. Despite these barriers, families continue to seek better educational opportunities for their children.

A right on paper should be a right within reach.
Through awareness, documentation support, helpline assistance and grassroots outreach, APNA works alongside families to navigate the RTE process and make education more accessible.

Sometimes, accessing a right starts with something as simple as knowing where to go, what to apply for and having someone to help with the process.

Over three camp days, our team brought Labour Card support closer to the communities, helping residents navigate applications and take a step towards accessing the social security benefits available to them.
The journey began in Jagannathpur Basti, where 44 Labour Card applications were supported. Six days later, the team reached Lowadih, Ward 12, where 50 applications were supported.
Two communities. Three camp days. 94 applications.
This is a concrete evidence that when information and support are accessible, people are better equipped to claim their rights.
From the 1st application to the 94th, the journey is just beginning.

From missing income certificates in Mausibadi to mismatched addresses in Lanka Colony, our field teams tracked the administrative barriers keeping social protection just out of reach.
These aren’t just paperwork gaps. They can determine whether families are able to access welfare schemes, education and other essential services.

Swipe through to see how one unexpected gathering grew into a community camp at Nagri.
What began as an unplanned gathering of women during a field visit soon grew into conversations across Nayasarai, Kolambi, Mahto Toli and Kesaro in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
From RTE awareness and documentation support to government schemes, each stop opened up space for questions, registrations and new connections.
Behind every conversation were community leaders, social workers and families coming together to understand what support was available and, more importantly, how to access it.
Because sometimes, meaningful change begins with simply stopping, listening and showing up.

Over the past few months, APNA carried out a baseline survey across 12 informal settlements in Ranchi where we talked to families, listened to their struggles, and documented the realities that rarely make it into official planning conversations.
What emerged wasn't just data. It was a clearer picture of who gets left out when systems are built without the margins in mind of the families who work hard every single day, yet remain locked out of stable income documentation, healthcare, and welfare support.
