🌱 Changing Perspectives Through Dialogue 🌱
A better society is built not only through development projects, but through empathy, positive thinking, and meaningful human connections.
Through sustained dialogue and awareness activities, communities can foster constructive thinking, mutual respect, stronger relationships, and greater social harmony. This initiative aims to inspire youth-led positive action, reduce social negativity, and create a culture of understanding and cooperation.
At Anmol Foundation, we believe that changing perspectives is the first step toward changing society. By facilitating community dialogues, training youth volunteers, documenting inspiring stories, and promoting inclusive participation, we strive to create compassionate and hopeful communities — one conversation at a time.

☀️ Stay Safe During Extreme Summer Heat 🌿
Rising temperatures and heatwaves can seriously affect our health, especially children, elderly people, and those working outdoors. A little awareness and precaution can help us stay safe and healthy during the summer season.
✅ Simple & Effective Ways to Protect Yourself from Heat:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day and stay hydrated.
☂️ Avoid going out in direct sunlight between 12 PM and 4 PM.
👕 Wear light-colored, loose cotton clothes to keep your body cool.
🧢 Cover your head with a cap, scarf, or umbrella while stepping out.
🍉 Include seasonal fruits, salads, and fresh liquids in your diet.
🏠 Keep your home and workplace cool and well-ventilated.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Take extra care of children and elderly family members.
⚠️ If you feel dizziness, weakness, headache, or excessive sweating, take rest immediately and drink water or ORS.
Creating a healthy society begins with awareness and responsible action.
Let us stay safe and spread awareness in our communities.

Traditional Knowledge & Rural Livelihood Systems: A Vanishing Wisdom 🌿

Rural India once thrived on a deeply integrated system of traditional knowledge and self-reliant livelihoods. Communities were largely self-sufficient—producing their own tools, food, housing materials, medicines, and daily necessities using local resources and collective effort.

From blacksmiths crafting agricultural tools, to potters shaping clay utensils, bamboo artisans creating household items, and farmers practicing organic farming and seed conservation—every role contributed to a sustainable rural ecosystem rooted in cooperation and environmental balance.

However, rapid modernization, market dependence, mechanization, and changing lifestyles have led to the gradual decline of this rich knowledge system. Many traditional skills are now limited to remote tribal and PVTG communities and are at risk of disappearing.

At the same time, this knowledge holds immense relevance today—especially in addressing climate change, rural unemployment, environmental degradation, and sustainability challenges.

📌 The need of the hour is clear:

Document traditional knowledge systems
Revive local skills and crafts
Connect youth with indigenous livelihoods
Integrate folk knowledge into education and policy
Reviving traditional wisdom is not just cultural preservation—it is a pathway toward sustainable and self-reliant rural development.

A Story of Self-Reliance from Rural Surguja
In Navanagar village of Ambikapur block, Surguja district, Saratu exemplifies resilience and sustainable rural livelihood. With only 15 decimals of homestead land, he practices vegetable cultivation to support his family’s nutrition.
To meet household grain needs, he cultivates additional land on lease or sharecropping arrangements from fellow villagers. Alongside farming, goat rearing serves as his primary source of income. He has around 5 goats at home and has also given nearly 10 goats to others on a sharing basis, receiving about 10 goats annually in return. His own livestock yields around 10 kids each year.
Through the sale of goats, he earns approximately ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh annually. Notably, he has successfully supported the marriages of his four daughters entirely through this income—without taking any loans.
Saratu’s journey highlights how small landholdings, combined with traditional practices like share-rearing and community-based farming, can ensure dignity, financial stability, and self-reliance.

We, the people of Surguja, call this *Lakda*. It has a sour taste. We prepare a chutney from it. Its leaves are used to make a delicious leafy vegetable dish, while ropes are fashioned from the bark of its stem; the stem itself is used as firewood.
It is both nutritious and beneficial for health. It serves as an excellent source of livelihood for the poor. However, it is liked by everyone.
However, the *Lakda* tree found here differs from the common variety. Its leaves have a reddish tint, whereas those of the other variety are green. Its fruit is a dull, earthy color, whereas the fruit of the common *Lakda* is bright red. Yet, the taste is identical, and in terms of shape—both the fruit and the leaves—they are exactly alike.
However, it is a truly unique plant. It needs to be preserved and promoted.
