On August 10, the RDTS formally notified all camp leaders regarding the upcoming month long Yoga exercise program for the residents of the settlement. This initiative is designed to promote health, discipline, and community well being by inviting a professional Indian Yoga Instructor to provide structured training sessions within the residential area.
Today, we are pleased to share that 45 men and women have registered to participate in this program. Their commitment marks a strong beginning to what promises to be a transformative journey of physical vitality and inner balance for our settlement community.
This collective participation reflects the spirit of unity and resilience that continues to guide our settlement. The program will not only enhance individual health but also strengthen communal harmony through shared practice and discipline.

On 3rd August, Parliamentarians Ngodup Dorjee la and Kunchok Rinchen la visited the RDTS Office as part of their official tour of Doeguling (2nd–11th August).
They were warmly welcomed by Executive Director Karma Yangdup la and the RDTS staff, who offered the traditional khata (white scarf) as a gesture of auspiciousness and respect.
During the meeting, Executive Director Karma Yangdup la presented RDTS’s ongoing initiatives in the fields of water and health, emphasized the importance of strategic planning for future development, and briefed the parliamentarians on the proposed ring road plan for Doeguling.
Sustainability Officer Tenzin Thakpo la underscored the importance of water conservation, shared the potential for replicating RDTS’s model in Bylakuppe and Kollegal, and highlighted the need for a collaborative approach to address these challenges.
In their reflections, Parliamentarian Ngodup Dorjee la drew upon his experiences in soil and water conservation, reminding all present that “in today’s world, survival is impossible without water.” Parliamentarian Kunchok Rinchen la commended RDTS’s efforts and assured that he would convey these initiatives to his colleagues in Parliament.

The second MC meeting of the year was convened on 25th July 2026, with its principal agenda centered on the RDTS Annual Health Fair and a community health talk aimed at enlightening and strengthening health awareness. All members were in attendance and engaged in a comprehensive discussion on advancing societal welfare and enhancing community services within the settlement. Dr. Dhondup Tashi la contributed valuable suggestions on health activities, further enriching the deliberations. It was unanimously resolved that this year’s Health Fair shall be held in October, thereby encouraging wider participation in sports and recreational activities across all age groups and by both genders.

From the Doeguling Development and Welfare Society (RDTS), prayers and offerings were made at Gaden Jangtse Monastery for the late activist Lobsang Palden, also known as Lobga Rangzen, over forty nine days.
Lobga Rangzen had earlier joined Gaden Jangtse Monastery in the Doeguling Tibetan settlement before moving to the United States. As a committed Tibetan freedom activist, he openly opposed China’s new Ethnic Unity and Progress Law, which seeks to assimilate minority identities and suppress Tibetan culture, language, and religion. In the end, he offered his life through self immolation as a protest, an act that must be recognized with deep understanding.
His final message urged Tibetans not to engage in sectarian disputes or divisions, but to remain united. He stressed that the lack of freedom in Tibet stems from the loss of Tibetan independence.
His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama has repeatedly advised Tibetans not to resort to extreme acts of self harm, emphasizing that every life is precious. This guidance is profoundly compassionate. Yet, Lobga Rangzen’s sacrifice stands as a call for Tibetans to continue working actively for the cause of Tibet.

As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 91st birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, RDTS Sustainality Officer, Tenzin Thakpo had the privilege to join programs in Bangalore organized by CRO South Zone, in partnership with Drepung Gomang Monastery.
He spoke at St. Joseph University, Surana College , VET First Grade College, Mt. Carmel (Deemed to be University) about the importance of Doeguling and its rich rich Nalanda tradition is preserved and practice also talk on RDTS’s grassroots initiatives that are positively impacting Doeguling and nearby Indian villages.
He also shared about the His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai lama four commitment which is so relevant in combating global challenges and concluded with a renewed call to action: to live by compassion, and protect our environment—values that remain central to His Holiness’s vision for a better world.
