Tommy is one if the few cats who call Marine Drive home. He was looking unwell and not eating properly. He was an elusive boy who took 2 days to catch. When we caught him we took him to Raksha Animal Welfare Center.

Tommy had multiple scratches and a swollen paw. After admitting him, he needed 1-week of antibiotics for his wounds, was vaccinated, neutered and then released. He’s much better and lifing life to the fullest! We’re glad we got to be a part of it.

Patil Baba, a 15 year old dog, came to us in a critical condition with severe wounds and very low strength. 🐾

With prompt care thanks to Nitin and treatment thanks to Raksha, his maggot wounds have healed and he is slowly beginning to respond. He’s still weak, on the drip and renal food. But he’s now able to stand and is fighting every day. 💛

🐾 “Are all street dogs rabid?”

Not all street dogs have rabies — this is a very common fear, but it’s not true. Rabies is a serious but relatively rare disease, and most street dogs are not infected. Aggressive or unusual behaviour can be caused by fear, pain, or stress, not just rabies.

Vaccination programs play a huge role in preventing the spread of rabies and keeping communities safe. Understanding the difference between illness and normal behaviour helps reduce panic and promotes safer, more informed responses around animals. 🐾
