🍲 THR Poshan Rasoi Competition – Turning Take-Home Ration into Everyday Nutrition
As part of Poshan Maah 2026, K. Corp Charitable Foundation organised the final round of the THR Poshan Rasoi Competition on 4 October 2026, bringing together 7 partner NGOs and 14 groups.
The competition aimed to demonstrate how Take-Home Ration (THR) provided through Anganwadi centres can be used creatively with local ingredients to prepare nutritious, affordable and easy-to-make recipes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Each team consisted of one Anganwadi worker and one parent, combining frontline nutrition knowledge with practical household food experience. Professional chefs also supported the teams during the final round.
🌟 The Chalni group from the Kasa project area secured Second Prize.
The team presented the traditional Top in two versions—sweet and savoury—along with mountain cumin chutney and peanut-sesame chutney.
A key feature of their recipes was the use of approximately 80% THR and 20% locally available ingredients, including local vegetables, peanuts, sesame and spices.
Their approach showed that THR can be used creatively to prepare different foods suited to local tastes and household practices. The recipes attracted interest from other participants and chefs, several of whom asked about the preparation and expressed interest in recreating the dishes.
The competition went beyond taste and presentation. Recipes were assessed on actual THR usage, nutritional value, affordability, local availability, ease of preparation and suitability for children and mothers.
