Sadbhavna Trust, established by a group of social activists working with the laboring rural poor of Mehrauli in South Delhi in 1990. From1993 to 2001, Sadbhavna Trust facilitated the work of Nirantar a Delhi-based Centre for empowering and enabling rural women through education. In 2009, Sadbhavana Trust began to work in slum areas around Lucknow with marginalized communities on feminist capacity and leadership building. Sadbhavana Trust’s mission is to work for social transformation towards creating a more gender just society. We seek to empower women and adolescent girls from socio-political and economically disadvantaged backgrounds so that they can challenge patriarchal norms, change their own life circumstances and those of their communities. Through a range of strategies we seek to provide the most marginalized young women with the necessary skills, information, and theoretical frameworks to become self-sufficient, confident, and inspiring role models in their communities to bring about social transformation. Sadbhavna Trust has broadly worked in partnership with other NGOs, women’s groups and community-based organizations; to provide a space that facilitates the evolution, growth and has actively addressed concerns related to gender and equity which have been central to all its activities.
