A game can change more than the score, it can change how a girl sees herself.

At Project Surbhi, games and sports become a powerful space for adolescent girls to discover their strengths, work as a team, overcome challenges, and find their voice. Through play, they build confidence, communication, resilience, decision-making, and leadership skills that stay with them long after the game ends, helping them participate, lead, and create positive change in their families and communities.

Back in year 2021, when Project Surbhi first opened its doors in Ichauliya Village, Barabanki, Komal was among the first girls to join.

At just 14 years old, she was quiet, hesitant, and rarely spoke in front of others. Like many girls in her village, she had dreams but lacked the confidence to express them.

Over the months, Project Surbhi became more than a learning centre for Komal. Through education, health awareness, life skills, leadership, and livelihood training, she gradually found her voice and began believing in her own potential. Today, as a proud Surbhi Sakhi from the first cohort, she encourages other girls to stay in school, embrace new opportunities, and confidently pursue their aspirations.

Komal's journey reminds us that leadership doesn't always begin with a loud voice. Sometimes, it begins with one girl finding the confidence to believe in herself and inspiring an entire community to do the same.

With nearly 120 million adolescent girls, India has one of the world's greatest opportunities to shape the future, according to UNICEF. Every empowered girl has the potential to influence not only her own life but also the choices, health, aspirations, and well-being of her family and community.

At Project Surbhi, we believe adolescent girls are the most powerful catalysts for lasting behavioural change. Through a holistic programme integrating education, health awareness, life skills, leadership, and confidence-building, we nurture informed, resilient, and self-reliant young women. As they carry this knowledge and confidence back to their homes and communities, they inspire healthier practices, challenge harmful social norms, and create a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond themselves.

At Project Surbhi, self-defence is more than a training module it's a cornerstone of holistic empowerment. By equipping rural adolescent girls with practical self-defence skills alongside confidence, resilience, situational awareness, and self-belief, we prepare them not only to respond to challenges but also to embrace opportunities, lead with confidence, and shape brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Surbhi Sakhis' Leading the Way Towards Stronger Communities.

At Project Surbhi, a Surbhi Sakhi is not defined by what she learns, but by what she does with that learning. She listens, supports, initiates conversations, and becomes a trusted voice among her peers and community. Through shared experiences and collective learning, girls begin to see themselves as contributors to change rather than just participants in a program.

Together, they form a growing circle of young leaders who carry awareness, confidence, and positive practices back to their villages turning individual journeys into a movement of collective change.

Because every Surbhi Sakhi carries the power to turn learning into community action.

When girls are given safe spaces to express themselves, confidence, identity, and leadership begin to grow naturally. At Project Surbhi, girls come together to share their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations freely in an environment built on trust, support, and mutual respect.

These spaces are helping girls find their voice, build self-belief, and grow into confident individuals who feel heard, valued, and empowered.

At Project Surbhi, we conduct yoga and meditation sessions that help girls develop focus, emotional balance, and inner strength. In contexts where stress and uncertainty often remain unaddressed, these practices offer a structured space to pause, reflect, and build self-awareness. Through regular sessions, girls learn to manage their emotions, improve concentration, and maintain a sense of calm, enabling them to approach daily challenges with confidence and resilience.

Girls in rural regions of Uttar Pradesh still face limited access to digital learning and technology. With rural women’s digital literacy at just 49.6% compared to 68.5% among men, this gap continues to restrict their education, career opportunities, and confidence in navigating today’s digital world.

At Surbhi Center, we are actively bridging this gap by providing practical hands-on computer training in tools like MS Office, Canva, internet usage, and other digital productivity platforms. Through regular sessions, girls are not only learning how to use technology but are also building confidence, creativity, and the skills needed for education, employability, and independent decision-making. Our goal is simple to ensure every girl has the digital knowledge to shape her own future and lead change within her community.
