Why does our Chenghi Mayan-based Hairwash Shampoo & Conditioner create less foam?

Because more foam doesnโ€™t necessarily mean better cleansing or gentler care for your hair and scalp.

Our Hairwash is thoughtfully made with traditional herbs, plant-derived surfactants, and essential oils, drawing from nature and indigenous knowledge.

The lower foam is intentional. Rather than designing our Hairwash around abundant lather, we focus on a gentle and mindful cleansing experience, one that respects your hair, your scalp, and the natural ingredients we work with.

๐Ÿ’š Less foam. More mindful care.
๐ŸŒฟ Plant-derived surfactants
๐ŸŒฑ Rooted in nature & traditional knowledge
โœจ Gentle care for your hair

So, the next time you use our Hairwash and notice less foam, remember:
itโ€™s not a flaw. Itโ€™s a conscious choice.

Our Plant Story (Hanu-rei)

Meet Mamma Angom Lumonjao, one of the forest guardians of Phayeng Umang. He shares his insights on the Hanurei used in Chenghi preparation. Do you know Hanurei, drop a comment below.

Hanurei (Mussaenda roxburghii Hook.f.) is a shrub of the Rubiaceae family, native to the Indo-Himalayan region and found in forests and forest edges of Northeast India, including Manipur.

Hanurei has a documented place in the traditional hair-care practices of Manipur. A field study on the traditional Chinghi shows Hanurei as one of the important ingredients among the plants used in its preparation.

Traditional knowledge from the Meitei, Tangkhul and other community also records Hanurei as a hair-wash plant where its leaves are boiled with rice water and the resulting extract is used to wash the hair, traditionally associated with preventing hair fall and dandruff and cooling the head.

Beyond hair care, in the Kom community of Manipur, steamed leaves of M. roxburghii (Hanurei) have been traditionally bandaged over sprains, while Karbi Community of Assam and other community in Northeast India have used its leaves or shoots as food or in traditional remedies.

Our Plant Story

At Happy Ingkhol, we believe in the importance of preserving, growing, and learning from the indigenous plants around us.

Today, weโ€™re shining a light on Nongnang Kori (Syzygium jambos) one of our soul ingredients that inspires our Chenghi Mayan-based Shampoo & Conditioner, Hair Oil, and Dry Chenghi Mayan Blend.

Known for its sweet, pleasant aroma, Nongnang Kori has long been valued as a useful herbal plant. Its leaves and bark contain naturally occurring tannins, antioxidants, and other bioactive compounds, which contribute to its traditional use in herbal preparations and hair care.

Traditional Maring Maibas (healers) have long used its leaves and bark in remedies, including preparations for wounds and other therapeutic purposes. Its medicinal use is also reflected in the wider oral traditions and cultural narratives surrounding traditional healers, including the Kabui Salang Maiba tradition.

At Happy Ingkhol, we believe that plants are more than ingredients, they are carriers of memory, knowledge, culture, and relationships with the land.

Sometimes, the most meaningful part of an exhibition is the conversation that happens beyond the stall.

Recently, Happy Ingkhol had the opportunity to participate in the Samridh Mega Expo in Gujarat, representing the Northeast as part of the NEDFi team.

With exhibitors from government institutions, organisations, and businesses, the expo brought together diverse ideas and stories. But what stayed with us most was the curiosity of the school students who visited our stall.

They asked questions. They shared their thoughts. They wanted to understand our work and the traditions behind it. ๐Ÿ’š

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover new ideas, explore different possibilities, and reconnect with the knowledge, culture, and traditions of their own communities.

Because when curiosity is given a platform, it can grow into ideas, purpose, and a better future.
