The children of beautifully expressed their love and devotion towards God by creating a lovely idol of using flour.

With their own hands, the children carefully shaped the flour into an idol of Lord Ganesha and adorned it with leaves. Through this activity, they showcased their creativity, artistic expression, devotion, and joy of learning.

It was not merely about creating an idol; it was a beautiful opportunity for the children to learn, create, express themselves, and discover their talents.

Such activities reflect the holistic approach of , where education goes beyond academics to nurture creativity, values, self-expression, and a sense of devotion in these slum children.

𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐚’𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 — 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞

Sanjana, a young girl from a slum in Mayapuri, lives with her father, Dinesh Kumar, who drives a rickshaw, her mother, Kusumlata, and her two siblings.

Two years ago, a devastating fire left Sanjana with severe burns on her face and hands. Traumatized and deeply conscious of her appearance, she stopped stepping out of her home and eventually dropped out of school.

Her journey towards a new life began when 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐢 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 reached out to her. The centre’s teachers, 𝐋𝐚𝐱𝐦𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚, patiently encouraged her and even went to her home to bring her to the centre.

At Sui Dhaga, Sanjana discovered much more than stitching. She found 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧.

Today, she walks into the centre with confidence, learns new skills and looks towards her future with hope.

𝐒𝐮𝐢 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 — 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟, 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞.

Sanjana’s story is a beautiful example of how 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐢 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 of many young slum girls and women.

Celebrations by

This year Teacher’s Day felt special.
It was celebrated by rewarding and awarding the most deserving- our coordinator and teachers of who have helped us fulfil our mission to spread education amongst the poor. From the past four years these people have fought every on ground situation to dedicatedly run all the Joy Pathshalas. Irrespective of the circumstances, they have sincerely done their duties with patience and smiles.

On this special occasion we also awarded 40 meritorious slum kids of Joy Pathshalas who have excelled in four different fields-
Academic Excellence, Behavioural Excellence, Art & Excellence and Teacher’s Appreciation. The awards included certificates, cash rewards and snack boxes. All the other 200 kids and teachers too received snack boxes.

The entire event was sponsored by DKSCORE PTE LTD. The entire team of Joy Story Foundation is grateful to Dharmender Arora & Sonia Joshi Arora for this thoughtful gesture and their commitment to support all our initiatives from the beginning of our journey.

The day also marks Sonia Arora’s birthday. The entire Joy Family wishes her a great birthday and a wonderful year ahead.

𝗦𝘂𝗶 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗮 & 𝗦𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

Sharing the story of another poor slum woman who’s life has been completely transformed- courtesy ’s two initiatives- & .

Relying on the husband’s meagre income who works as a tailor in a factory, the family of five always struggled to make ends meet.

But destiny had something in store for her. One year back she came to know about Sui Dhaga and enrolled in the four months course. She dedicatedly learned the skills and resolved to use the knowledge to improve her family’s condition.

Soon after finishing the course she joined Saksham and started getting work. With her hard work and a second hand motorised machine at home she churned out impressive performance and has become the highest paid in the batch of 8 women. She comfortably earns 10-15000/- per month and has happily added to the family’s income and making sure her kids get the best and educate well.

Picked up from the slums itself these people dedicatedly run all the centres as helpers & trainers with Rohit- the boy on the extreme right as their coordinator.

The initiative that was started four years ago, with just 2 centres has grown to 14 centres today- all because of the positive spirit, dedication and enthusiasm of this team.

Fighting all odds and drastic living conditions, these people smiling take care of ’s mission of .

We are glad that along with lighting the lamp of education and skill training we have also given employment and a purpose to these poor slum residents, who are proud to be a part of our journey.

We have talked about our work in the past but starting today we will be sharing the journeys of the people who are behind that work and who have been tirelessly working for the 14 ’s centres as trainers & helpers.
These heart touching stories will surely touch the core.

Ruby’s Story

Ruby has been living in Mayapuri with her family for the past 25 years. A few years ago, her husband was diagnosed with kidney failure and now undergoes regular dialysis. Due to his illness, he had to leave his job, placing the entire responsibility of supporting the family on Ruby’s shoulders. Financial difficulties also forced her elder son to discontinue his studies and start working to support the family.

Amidst her struggles joining Joy Paathshala under Joy Story Foundation gave her life a renewed sense of purpose and financial support. Here, she not only teaches children but also helps instill values, confidence, and hope in them. The children affectionately call her “Ma’am Ji.”

Today, Ruby works tirelessly to bring education to underprivileged children who otherwise may never have had the opportunity to attend school. Through her efforts, many children have been enrolled in schools, giving them a chance at a brighter future.
