Some travel thousands of kilometres with hope in their hearts. Some overcome fear and uncertainty all for one dream: to see their child smile confidently for the very first time.

Every child deserves the right to smile, eat properly, speak clearly, and live with dignity. Yet, thousands of children and adults across India born with a cleft lip or cleft palate continue to suffer in silence due to a lack of awareness, financial constraints, and limited medical access.

Through our flagship "Smile for Life" mission, the EBMA Foundation is working tirelessly alongside medical professionals and partner hospitals to provide life-changing cleft surgeries completely free of cost.

A single 45-minute surgery can end a lifetime of isolation and shame, giving a child back their smile, education, and place in the world.

Meet the mother of little Devi, who travelled nearly 19 hours from Bihar to Kolkata, so her daughter could receive cleft lip treatment at the EBMA Foundation Cleft Care Centre.

Behind every healed smile is a mother’s resilience.
A mother who overcomes fear, distance, financial hardship, and social stigma.
A mother who refuses to give up until her child can smile with confidence.
Cleft mothers are among the strongest women we meet, turning pain into courage and hope into healing.

A mother’s tears. A father’s silence.
And a future filled with uncertainty.

When Ruhi Parveen was born with a cleft lip and palate, her parents didn’t know where to turn. Coming from a small village in North 24 Pargana, access to care felt impossible.
But hope found its way.
With the support of the EBMA Foundation and The Muthoot Group under the Muthoot Shape a Smile initiative, Ruhi underwent cleft lip surgery at just 6 months old.
Today, her family no longer lives in fear; they live with hope.
And this is only the beginning of her journey.
