A hostel is not just a building.

It can become the birthplace of a new generation of women leaders.

At Mastichak, Bihar, we are preparing to build a 320-bed Girls’ Hostel Complex under its pioneering Football to Eyeball Girls’ Empowerment Programme.

Built at a project cost of $2 mn / Rs 19 Crores, this upcoming hostel will provide a safe, nurturing, and purpose-driven residential space for rural girls who are being educated, trained, skilled, and employed as future optometrists and eye care professionals.

The idea behind this movement was shaped by the vision of Mritunjay Tiwary, Founder and the brain behind the Football to Eyeball Girls Empowerment Programme — a bold model that uses football to build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, and optometry to create financial independence and professional dignity for girls from rural Bihar.

Through this programme, girls are not only learning to play football.

They are learning to stand tall.

They are not only studying optometry.

They are becoming the backbone of rural eye care.

They are not only changing their own lives.

They are changing families, communities, and the future of Bihar.

The proposed hostel will help Akhand Jyoti scale this transformative programme by offering residential support to 320 girls, enabling them to focus on education, sports, vocational training, and personal development in a secure environment. The project is also aligned with Akhand Jyoti’s Vision 2030 goal of empowering 1,500 rural girls while restoring sight and dignity to millions through high-quality eye care.

We invite corporates, CSR partners, institutions, foundations, and individual philanthropists to join us in building this landmark hostel.

Partnership and recognition opportunities are available across different levels, including recognition walls, floor sponsorships, block sponsorships, anchor sponsorship, and exclusive sponsorship.

A future where millions regain sight is being built, brick by brick.

Across Bihar and the underserved regions of India, thousands of people live with treatable vision loss. Timely surgery often depends on how far a patient must travel and how many people a health system can serve each year. Expanding surgical capacity remains one of the most effective ways to ensure more families receive care when it matters most.

This is where the RLJ Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital Community Centre becomes a defining step in Akhand Jyoti’s journey.

It forms part of a vision to build the world’s largest standalone eye care ecosystem, alongside our Centre of Excellence. Rooted in rural Bihar, this growing ecosystem will connect communities to a wider network of screenings, referrals, and specialised treatment.

The impact will be significant.

The expanded ecosystem will increase Akhand Jyoti’s annual surgical capacity by 300,000, enabling many more individuals to regain clear vision and return to work, education, and everyday life with renewed confidence.

This progress represents more than infrastructure. It reflects a system designed to reach people earlier, treat more patients each year, and strengthen a culture of accessible, high-quality eye care.
Your support helps build the pathways through which sight returns to countless lives.

Join us in shaping the future of accessible eye care.

Women's
For months, the kitchen held its silence.

In a village in Bihar, sixty-year-old Sumitra Devi, who once moved through her mornings by instinct, began to pause, hesitate, and slowly withdraw from the familiar. Colours softened, routines loosened, and something unspoken settled into the everyday.

Then, one quiet decision altered the course of an ordinary day.

What followed was not sudden—but it was enough to change everything.

This Women's Eye Health & Safety Month, step into the moment her world began to return:

The women who once weren’t allowed to step outside their homes are now restoring sight to thousands.

This is not a metaphor. This is Akhand Jyoti.

In rural Bihar, blindness doesn’t just take away vision—it takes away livelihoods, independence, and dignity. And the biggest challenge has always been access. Not because communities don’t want care, but because there hasn’t been a workforce to reach them.

That’s where change begins.

Through the Football to Eyeball Girls’ Empowerment Programme, girls who once faced restrictions step onto a football field—discovering confidence, discipline, and a sense of freedom.

From there, their journey continues—into education, professional training, and ultimately into their own communities as qualified optometrists.

Today, they are:
• Conducting eye screenings
• Guiding patients toward treatment
• Restoring sight—and trust

They are not just part of the system.
They are the system.

Under Vision 2030, we aim to:
✦ Empower 1,500 girls
✦ Deliver 12 million screenings
✦ Enable 2 million sight-restoring surgeries

Because when you educate a girl, you don’t just change her life—you transform an entire community.

A Clearer World Begins With a Simple School Screening

Not every child who struggles in class is unable to learn.
Some simply cannot see.

Through Akhand Jyoti’s Bal Drishti initiative, we are reaching children where they are—inside classrooms—conducting early eye screenings and ensuring they receive the care they need.

A simple check-up can change everything:
• From blurred blackboards to clear lessons
• From hesitation to confidence
• From falling behind to moving forward

With our Vision 2030, we are working towards reaching millions of children with quality eye care.
Because every child deserves the chance to see clearly—and dream freely.

For many women in rural India, healthcare access depends on distance and mobility. While men often travel to towns and encounter health services, many women spend most of their lives within the village—far from routine screenings.

Through the Blindness Elimination Programme, Akhand Jyoti takes eye care directly to underserved communities, ensuring early detection and timely treatment.

Today, over 50% of our beneficiaries are women—a reminder of how vital last-mile access truly is.
This Women’s Eye Health & Safety Month, help us bring sight closer to women who need it most.

This World Health Day, under the theme “Together for health,” we are reminded that healthcare cannot be meaningful unless it reaches those who need it the most.

At Akhand Jyoti, this is not an idea—it is our everyday work.

Across rural Bihar, our Blindness Elimination Programme ensures that eye care is not limited to hospitals or cities. Through vision centres, outreach camps, school screenings, surgeries, free spectacles, and follow-up care, we take services directly to underserved communities.

Because vision loss does more than affect sight—it restricts education, livelihood, mobility, and independence.

What makes this effort matter is its reach. From early detection to timely treatment, we work to ensure that no one is left behind due to distance, cost, or access.

Every partnership strengthens this continuum of care. Every contribution helps restore sight—and the dignity that comes with it.

Stand for health that reaches everyone.
Stand for equitable eye care.

In many rural communities, girls grow up within invisible boundaries— of mobility, opportunity, and aspiration.

At 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐲𝐨𝐭𝐢, those boundaries are being redefined.

A 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧-𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, Akhand Jyoti is building a women-led 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞—where 𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 are not just included in the system, but are becoming 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭-𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲.

Through the '𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥' 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬’ 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞, the journey begins with confidence and agency, and evolves into 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. These girls step into roles as eye care professionals, serving the very communities they come from.

And that changes everything.

Because care delivered by someone from within the community builds trust. It ensures people come forward for screening, follow through with care, and stay connected to the system.

Today, 845+ 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 550+ 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 60 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐲𝐨𝐭𝐢 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬. Together, they are strengthening access, improving uptake, and making quality eye care a lived reality at the last mile.

'Football to Eyeball' is more than a programme.

It is a shift in who participates, who leads, and who sustains change.

Clear vision begins with access. Today, that access expands further.

𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐲𝐨𝐭𝐢 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 with the launch of its 48𝐭𝐡 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐫, 𝐌𝐮𝐳𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐫, 𝐁𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐫—bringing primary eye care closer to those who need it most.

In regions like Motipur, small gaps in care—a missed diagnosis, an uncorrected refractive error—can quietly turn into bigger challenges. This centre bridges that gap with timely screenings, early detection of conditions like cataract and glaucoma, and access to affordable eyeglasses.

And importantly, it respects the reality of those it serves. For patients who travel long distances, repeat visits are not always possible. Here, they can get their eyes tested, select their glasses, and receive them the same day—within 2–3 hours.

𝐄𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 3,000 𝐭𝐨 5,000 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, forming a critical link in Akhand Jyoti’s Vision 2030 journey.

Supported by SEVA FOUNDATION —𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐲𝐨𝐭𝐢—the initiative is expected to impact over 200,000 lives, strengthening access to care at the community level.

For those needing advanced treatment, referrals to Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospitals ensure continuity of care, including free sight-restoring surgeries for the underserved.

This is not a standalone step, but part of a growing network—bringing eye care closer, faster, and more equitably.

Because access should not depend on distance.

And clear vision should never have to wait.
