💙 Two Years of ManUp 💙

Today marks two years since the official launch of ManUp.

It’s hard to believe how much has happened since that first night. What started with a simple belief that men in our community needed somewhere they could talk, be heard and get support without judgement has grown into something far bigger than we could have imagined.

Over the past two years, we’ve met some incredible men, had conversations that mattered, supported people through some very difficult times, helped men access counselling, built new connections in our community and watched ManUp continue to grow.

There have been challenges along the way too, and plenty of learning, but we’re incredibly proud of how far ManUp has come, and enormously grateful to every person who has supported us, donated, fundraised, shared a post, attended a group, trusted us with their story or simply told someone that ManUp is there.

And this week, we received another piece of news that means a huge amount to us.

'Mark Ennis and Dean O’Neill have both been shortlisted as finalists in the County Wexford Volunteer Awards 2026, in the Healthcare & Wellbeing Volunteer of the Year category'.

Neither of us started ManUp looking for recognition, but to have the work behind ManUp recognised in this way is something we’re genuinely proud of. More importantly, we see it as recognition of what ManUp has become and of the community that has stood behind us over these past two years.

And finally, there’s one more very special milestone happening this week, although this one is a little more personal! ❤️

ManUp will be closed tomorrow, Friday 11th September, as we celebrate the wedding of our very own Mark Ennis.

Mark has been part of ManUp from the very beginning, and tomorrow the ManUp hat comes off for the day as we celebrate something much more important, Mark marrying the love of his life, Nicola.

From everyone connected with ManUp, we wish Mark and his beautiful bride an incredible wedding day and a lifetime of happiness together. 🥂

So, all things considered, it’s a fairly special week around here.

Two years of ManUp.
Two Volunteer Award finalists.
And one wedding.

Not bad for a week. 💙

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.

🎯🏆 Champions on and off the oche!

There must be something in the water in Castlebridge...

Over the summer, the team from The Porter House took part in the annual Marty B's Darts Tournament and, not content with just winning the tournament, they only went and won it again this year! 🏆

But what we're celebrating today goes well beyond darts.

The Porter House chose ManUp as the beneficiary of their fundraising throughout the tournament and managed to raise an absolutely phenomenal...

€2,605! 💙

For a small, community-based organisation like ours, receiving that level of support is huge.

It gives us greater capacity to keep doing what ManUp was set up to do: being there for men who need somewhere to turn, keeping our groups free and accessible, supporting men one-to-one, and helping towards the cost of professional counselling for men who may struggle to afford it themselves.

What we particularly love about fundraisers like this is where they happen.

Men's mental health doesn't only need to be talked about in counselling rooms or at organised mental health events. It can be talked about over a game of darts, in the local pub, in a dressing room, at work, or sitting beside a mate.

The more normal those conversations become, the better.

So to everyone at The Porter House, the organisers of Marty B's Darts Tournament, and every single person who threw a dart, bought a ticket, donated or supported the lads along the way, you should be incredibly proud of what you've achieved.

€2,605 for men's mental health in our community.

We're delighted to have been chosen to benefit from it, and extremely grateful for the support.

And lads... congratulations on the back-to-back win. 🎯🏆

💙 A huge thank you to everyone at Kent Stainless and to the family of the late Mick Driscoll.

Last Friday, Kent Stainless held their annual Mick Driscoll Memorial Cup, with the Office team taking on the Production Floor and, alongside the match, running a Golden Goal competition which raised just over €200 for ManUp.

We'd particularly like to thank the family of the late Mick Driscoll for nominating ManUp to benefit from the fundraising held in his memory. To have our work chosen by Mick's family means a great deal to us, and we're genuinely honoured and grateful for their support.

Contributions like this help us continue the work we do, providing free peer-support groups, one-to-one support, community outreach and helping men access professional counselling where financial circumstances might otherwise be a barrier.

There's also something particularly meaningful about receiving this support from Kent Stainless. Of their approximately 220 employees, around 200 are men.

In a workplace with such a large male workforce, conversations around men's mental health really matter. We spend a huge part of our lives alongside the people we work with, and sometimes a workmate can be the first person to notice that someone isn't quite themselves.

It doesn't always take a big intervention. Sometimes it's simply asking a colleague, "Are you alright?" and being willing to listen to the answer.

Thank you to Mick's family, everyone at Kent Stainless, everyone who took part in the match and everyone who supported the Golden Goal competition.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us keep our supports accessible and continue building a community where men know they don't have to face things alone.
