A huge congratulations to Conor from everyone at 2nd Wexford Scout Group!👏
We are incredibly proud to see our Scouts selected as one of only 16 students chosen to travel to Zambia in June 2027 to help communities less fortunate than ourselves.
This is an amazing opportunity and a true reflection of Conor’s leadership, kindness, and willingness to help others — values we are proud to see in our Scouts every day.
Well done Conor, we know you will represent your school, community, and Scout Group brilliantly. What an incredible adventure ahead! 🇿🇲⚜️
Following our ethos of helping those less fortunate than ourselves, we are delighted to announce that our Zambia Immersion Project will take place once again in June 2027 🇿🇲
A group of students and staff will travel to Kabwe, Zambia, where they will undertake volunteer work, contribute to the continued development of Sables Nua School, engage with local students and families and visit a hospice centre.
Following a highly competitive application and interview process, sixteen students from 3rd Year and TY were selected to travel alongside teachers Conor Byrne, Hanna Turner, Ruth Ivers and Martin Kehoe.
The sixteen students travelling are:
Michael Carthy, Conor Gleeson, Jamie Lewis, Rory Sidney, Rhys Carley, Cathal Donoghue, Liam O’Brien, Tadhg Furlong, Ronan Hynes, Sean O’Brien, Barra Fortune, Rory Codd, Alexander Miller, Alfie Canning, Barry Pettitt and Isaac Barry.
We wish the lads every success over the coming year as they begin their individual and group fundraising activities. We encourage our school community to support them wherever possible as they prepare for this life-changing experience 🇿🇲
