ISACS Training: Working with a Producer 🤝✨

How do you know you’re ready to work with a producer and when does it make sense to bring someone on board?

ISACS member Kath Gorman of Promenade Ireland will share her perspective on setting up good practices for working with a producer, finding the right producer fit, and demystifying the producer role, including how to get the best from the partnership.

As we begin planning for next year, we’re looking back on our 2026 Shared Island exchanges and the connections, creativity and community they made possible. These exchanges connect young people from circus schools across the Island of Ireland through shared experiences and their love of circus.

This year, young people joined peers from across the country for two inspiring exchanges in Derry, hosted by In Your Space Circus, and in Cork, hosted by Circus Factory. These exchanges create safe and supportive spaces for young people to build relationships, grow in confidence and strengthen connections with each other and the wider circus community.

This video captures the impact of the exchanges, and what they mean to our partners, their communities and, most importantly, the young people involved.

We’re proud of the collaboration that makes Circus Explored possible and grateful to our project funders Creative Ireland, our partner organisations and all the young people who bring these exchanges to life.

Calling all circus artists! Applications are opening soon for The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Circus Bursary Award, supporting individual artists to develop their artistic practice through dedicated time for research, reflection, experimentation, and creative development.

💰 Maximum Award: €20,000
👤 Who can apply? Individual circus artists
📅 Opens: Tuesday, 10 November 2026
⏰ Deadline: Thursday, 17 December 2026 at 5:30pm

This award is designed to give artists the space and resources to think deeply about their work, explore new ideas, and invest in their artistic growth.

⚠️ Please note: There will be only one round of the Circus Bursary Award for 2027, so be sure to plan and prepare your application accordingly. Application guidelines will be made available two weeks before the application portal opens.

🌟 Artist Announcement: LIFT Residency 2026

The ISACS Network is delighted to announce that Rónan McLoughlin and Niall Tuohy have been selected as the artists for the LIFT Residency 2026.

Ronan, alongside his performance partner Niall, will use the residency to research and develop the foundations of The Book of Fire – Chapter 2, the next production from ROGU.

Building on the success of Stories from the Book of Fire, which has toured nationally and internationally, the project seeks to move beyond spectacle and explore new creative possibilities in fire performance, movement, and storytelling. The development process will be supported by Darragh McLoughlin, who will act as an outside eye.

The residency includes five days of studio space at Wexford Arts Centre (23-27 November 2026), accommodation in Wexford Town (22-28 November 2026), mentoring support from the ISACS and Wexford Arts Centre teams, a €2,000 stipend, and an opportunity to share the work with a live audience at the conclusion of the residency.

ISACS Training: Accessibility Riders ✨

Access needs are important, and everybody has them – even if they don’t realise it. As an artist, how do you know what you need? How do you ask for it? And how do you meet the needs of the people you work with?

In this session on accessibility riders, artist and director Tara Brandel will offer perspectives and insights from twenty years with her company, Croí Glan integrated dance. She will present a practical approach for figuring out your own access needs and communicating them to your collaborators.

This session will help artists to:

✅ Understand their own access needs
✅ Communicate those needs with collaborators
✅ Create more accessible working environments

💡 Participants are asked to attend with someone who knows them well, such as a fellow artist, friend, family member, or trusted colleague, for a paired access needs exercise.

Bursary for November Non-Stop Circus Hardcore Training 💪🤹‍♂️💥

ISACS is offering a bursary for intensive professional circus training with Trio Wise Fools, in partnership with Belfast Circus and Tumble Circus.

🤸 Training includes: Doubles & Triple Trapeze, Rope Straps, Hand-to-Hand & Partner Acrobatics, Cloudswing (subject to rigging), Juggling and Skipping.

🗓 Training Dates: 2-6 November; 9-13 November

📍 Belfast Circus, 23-25 Gordon Street, Belfast

💷 Course Cost: £250 for one week or £400 for both weeks
