FoodCloud

FoodCloud FoodCloud is an Irish non-profit tackling the twin issues of food waste and food insecurity to fight climate breakdown and build resilience. RC: 20101398

Food is more than nutrition — it gets people talking, it makes people happy, it brings communities together. We all use food to show we love someone. From farm to plates, food has a long journey and takes a lot of hard work along the way. Yet much of this good food is being thrown away, while many people in our communities go hungry. FoodCloud is a community-based social enterprise that brings foo

d businesses and charities together with an easy-to-use and reliable platform, matching those with too much food with those who have too little. We believe in building a culture where everyone has the chance to celebrate good food and learn about its benefits. We believe communities built on shared food can be rediscovered.

On 20 May 2026, we attended the ESF+ Food Support event hosted by Minister Dara Calleary TD, highlighting the impact of the European Social Fund (ESF+) Food & Basic Materials Programme in Ireland and the incredible work of organisations across Ireland.

The ESF+ programme is an EU-wide programme to help people take their first steps out of poverty and social exclusion by addressing their most basic needs i.e. food and/or basic materials.  FoodCloud is the primary partner organisation to deliver food under the programme - we procure, store and coordinate the collection of food products by more than 160 approved charities across the country.  In 2025, the programme was used for nearly 350,000 food packs and to create nearly 2 million meals.

The event was also an opportunity for the organisations to network with stands showcasing the work of .mhuire Cranmore Abbeyquarter Community Centre, Empower and St.Martha’s Food Banks. Presentations from , and provided real insights of how food is an essential support and is often the initial connection that allows the charity to help individuals navigate wrap-around services and open the door to long-term change.

A huge thank you to .protection  Joanna Gawrylczk-Malesa from the europeancommission  and all partners involved for their continued support of this important initiative.

🌍⚽️ The starts today!

What would we know about that? What we do know is that every €1 donated to FoodCloud redistributes 11 meal equivalents across Ireland.

🚨 Help our kitchen find a new home!

We’ve been too successful… and now we need more space.

The FoodCloud Kitchen, in partnership with AIB Community Meals, has outgrown its current home and we’re searching for a new kitchen space in South Dublin.

Since 2021, our chefs have transformed surplus food into wholesome meals for communities, charities, and events across Ireland, proving that a circular economy can feed people and reduce waste at the same time ♻️

With demand continuing to grow, we now need a bigger space so we can keep serving communities at scale.

Our wishlist:

📍 South Dublin location (close to Tallaght warehouse if possible)
👩‍🍳 Minimum 200m² working kitchen space
🍴 Ideally already fitted or partially equipped

If you know of a space, or someone who might, we’d love to hear from you.

Please share or tag anyone who could help.

🌍 Yesterday was World Hunger Day.

At FoodCloud, we rescue surplus food and redistribute it to communities across Ireland. And when food can’t be redistributed, our FoodCloud Kitchen turns it into fresh, delicious meals through the AIB Community Meals Programme. 👨‍🍳🍽️

We’re at all weekend showing how good food can go further.

You’d never guess how much work goes into getting fresh produce from the ground to local communities 🌱

For National Volunteer Week, we spent the day at the walled garden in Townley Hall harvesting cabbage, beetroot, garlic, rhubarb and more alongside local and FoodCloud volunteers.

A calm, rewarding day, and a reminder of what community effort can look like.
